If i'm going to pay some one 400million, it's machado

same age, plays premiere position, and his numbers are on par with harper, and he's a SS.

And as he ages, he can be moved to 3b, where his numbers still play for the position

Trout
Bryant
Betts
Donaldson (Has also gotten off to a poor start but he's been more consistent than Harper over the years)
Sale
Scherzer
Altuve
Votto
Kershaw
Kluber

A case can also be made that Lindor is a better player as well. He's a top 3 defensive SS plus he has a very good bat.

It’s really not fair, at least IMO, to lump pitchers & hitters into a top 10 list. Would Harper make your top 10 position player list?

Your list adjusted by career OPS+

Trout 174
Votto 157
Bryant 143
Harper 141
Donaldson 137
Betts 127
Altuve 126

you have to add the pitchers to keep him out of your list, which i don't agree with, but fair enough.

Harper is the youngest player on the list. Easy to see why he'll get paid

Of course he's a top 10 position player. But Harper's likely going to end up making a lot more money than better players simply by hitting the open market at a younger age. If Betts and Bryant were free agents after this year, how much should those guys get? $500 million? They've been better and much more consistent players than Harper.

That doesn’t make any sense. Why not say Trout then? You specifically said if there’s anyone, it would be machado.

Looking over the course of career, Harper has been better than Betts, albeit, it’s not a huge gap, and is about tied with Bryant. I guess it’s all about which numbers or stats you concern yourself with.

My 2 biggest takeaways from his thread: Mike Trout is a goddamn alltime machine.

And Barry Bonds ‘01-‘04/‘05 was he biggest beast in baseball history. It’s almost unfathomble how good he was. And it’s imposssible to imagine if you weren’t old enough to have witnessed it. He got 3 pitches to hit all game. One, he pissed into the bay, and the other 2 were pissrods to the shortstop shifted over behind 2nd base. He squared up just about every fricking ball he swung at.

IDK, at only age 26, Trout can certainly make that case
You don't get paid 400m for just production. You have to put asses in seats too and Trout can't do that

Well then, he needs to get caught banging a stripper while doing coke, and then go on an apology tour. People love a train wreck.

Can’t wait until Harper and Bryant are in a Cubs uniform together. It’ll be so dreamy with those two hunks smashing balls over the fence.
