1. I will never attend a Catholic High open house
2. All I am saying is that a Public school for example like Plaquemine can't go into Baton Rouge and get a kid to go to their school. The kid's parents would have to buy a house in Plaquemine for that to happen. But Catholic or Uhigh can go to Plaquemine and say "Hey come here and play sports" and they can just enroll the kid right then and there. Now if you can tell me how that's fair I'm willing to listen.

And privates can't offer free tuition. What it all boils down to is the public schools inability to provide a quality education.
Also you are incredibly naive if you think there are not out of district kids playing at your school.

How much money do you pay to go to public schools? Oh yeah, none.
People pay to go to private school so they can live wherever they want. FYI - if you don't come from a "feeder" school and don't live in the district, you would have to sit out a year of sports in private schools.

quote:of course not. all the placed scholarships are pure coincidence. do not forget work study programs where high school kids can earn $20+ per hours towards tuition for very easy work.

State too small for 9 state champions.

He's Hahnville (as am I). Bet you wish they would have left us and Destrehan in Jeff Parish or Gonzales districts.

Why does East Iberville continuously make the playoffs even though there are open spots for all teams? That is what is so idiotic and at the same time, demoralizing, about the whole select/non-select ideal. I hope they revert back to the old formula. It also makes no sense that teams in a same district -- Kentwood and Lab, for instance -- will never have a revenge playoff game.
Back to E. Iberville...why do they suck so badly? They've been horrid the last three years and maybe more -- as in not winning a game. They went to Logansport last year in the first round. Arcadia is not much better distance wise -- about a 5 hour trip by yellow hound. That's a trip that they do not need to make. Get in the weight room and put this dismal year behind.
I realize Mentorship Academy also made the playoffs. Ridiculous.
I hate the "Division I" playoffs the most. Look at the amount of teams involved. Let the big boys at all levels play one another. And the playoffs should be 32 teams in every bracket (meaning 5 of them...not 9).

You realize SL is in 4A not 5A this season right?
Posted on 11/11/15 at 3:26 pm to JohnZeroQ
Yep, and it sucks since now it's hard to fill a schedule. Poor Desty only had 9 games because they drew the bye in week 10 and couldn't find an opponent.

lol they were quite comfortable in 4A. Their girls couldnt "compete" in 5A sports, so they never moved up. well, that was their excuse, anyway.

Nothing can top when Haynesville plays a Plaquemines Parish team lol
Or for that matter, they're both in 2a nonselect now, South Plaquemines and North Caddo

Central Lafourche, always on the Tarpons mind. Even in a discussion that has nothing remotely to do with them.

Just stay home and listen on the radio like the other Tarpon faithful.

Things change man you guys won't always be on top. One day the bayou teams will get their shite together. You guys went the entire 1980's and early 90's without beating CL. The right coaching hires and administration make all the difference. It's not like there's not athletes here, just look at how the bayou basketball teams for the most dominate the river school. Desty & Hahnville's down years will always be shorter though with the amount money coming in from the plants.

Had Rummel allowed Curtis in the Catholic back in the day when they kept applying then they wouldn't have been having to trounce poor 2A schools like Winnfield and then the Winnfield principal would have gotten their panties in a wad and pushed for this split.
I don't know what's more funny...
1. That you think Curtis really wanted to be in the Catholic league when they refused to move up to 5A when they had the chance....
or
2. that you think Rummel has the clout to tell Holy Cross, Brother Martin, and Jesuit who's in and out of the Catholic league.
Btw, in the last 14 months , Curtis has lost to St. Aug, Jesuit, Martin, and Rummel. That is probably the best reason why Curtis didn't want to be in 5A or the Catholic league.
