Where is the money coming from?
Rich af people are only becoming more wealthy, no?

After what the schools foot, how much of the bill do these rich folks have to pick up?

We don’t get to see the contracts do we? Maybe there’s some type of loan involved if the athlete makes it big. Hell idk.

Would it be that difficult for rich af people to reallocate some play money to buying an athlete and whatever all comes with that?

Simpson has a little bit lower completion % but the rest of his stats are pretty much the same as Beck. A lot less interceptions too

Several bama podcasts are reporting this story, absent naming which school was offering that much. It is also the story that his draft status has dropped from a first rounder to a mid second rounder. FWIW.

Paying Ty Simpson that much is crazy. He’s got talent but there are reasons he sat behind Milroe. He had a nice little stretch in September but he’s also not the brightest or confident QB. Not saying he couldn’t do better with a change of scenery or better coaching, but for $6.5 million you better be getting a fully formed ready to roll QB and Ty ain’t it.

I would think any contract with a public school would be subject to FOIA request. The NIL portion wouldn't be required to be made public. Only question would be if the contract is with the school or the non-profit organization. LSU vs Tiger Athlitic Foundation

might as well take the $6.5 million and play himself into a 1st round pick.

IF Cam Coleman got 3.5 million, then 5.5 million for a starting QB is not out of the realm of possibility.

“Market rate.”

It started with 7-4 coaches making 4-6 million a year.

Auburn was paying Jackson Arnold 1.2 a year. Ty Simpson getting robbed at $400k

He hadn’t even won the starting job when he negotiated that deal.

He’d just been beaten by Milroe and was trying to hold off Austin Mack in camp.

I can't believe that people actually thought NIL wouldn't be exactly this. You had to be insanely gullible to think "oh well players are gonna make money from endorsement deals and autographs"

No. He declared for the draft.

Meaning all those schools were openly tampering.

It’s a supply and demand issue, and right now Miami does not have a lot of options.
