Brad Brach to the Cubs for 1 year $3 mil
Considering a guy like Joe Kelly got 3/24, that's highway robbery

You babble on about Pollock being a "legitimate step back" to Pederson while everything you just posted contradicts that. How do you not see that? At worst, it's lateral. And once again, Pollock is not replacing Pederson for crying out loud. Why you are meshing those two together in the first place?
Well duh. Who doesn't? But there you have a Max Muncy problem. As of now, Bellinger will not be playing first full time. So what would you rather? Him in center or right? If Realmuto is a Dodger, he could very well get 1B starts as well to keep his bat in the lineup.
Adding a right handed bat was not the sole reason for signing him. Adding his premium glove up the middle is not just an added benefit especially since it's so important to his overall value.
Well then you'd have neither.
So you were arguing yourself?
You are already better than you were last year on paper. I think your outlook is terrible. There's multiple young building blocks on the team and they have plenty of money to spend if they choose to.
That was a mind bending conversation that I'm pretty much done with.

i want bellinger at first base where he has a 70 grade tool there. i dont like seeing the dodgers rip their outfield depth simply because it forces bellinger back out there

please enlighten me. ive already stated he brings better defense than the player he is replacing. but that isnt the reason they made this deal, its an added benefit. they brought him in because they want people who can hit against lefties and they have decided that they dont want to pay over the tax threshold

id rather have harper at 5/200 than pollock at 4/65
Well then you'd have neither.

im saying i dont want to really argue over next year when pollock may be slightly better for the team next year. even though joc is much better for the team in the long run, and some projections will say that joc is in fact the better option for next year
So you were arguing yourself?

getting better for 2019 depends on a) if we get realmuto and b) if we dont have to trade verdugo for him. i would say we dont look as good in the future, beyond 2019

That’s a great deal for Chicago. Brach is an excellent rebound candidate
And looking at it he was fine last year, I thought he had a worse year for some reason

Brad Brach has pretty quietly had a nice career. ERA of 2.79 over 319.2 IP from 2013-2017.
Struggled to begin 2018 (and with an unlucky .374 BABIP) but closed the year with 1.46 ERA over his final 25 innings

@Feinsand: According to a source, the Padres are indeed making a play for Manny Machado. @sdutKevinAcee was first on the Padres’ pursuit.

@Feinsand: While Padres are in on Machado, he’s not their lone target. According to a source, San Diego also remains in trade talks with the Marlins about J.T. Realmuto.

Any chance Dodgers still go for Harper now?
Posted on 1/25/19 at 8:15 pm to WestCoastAg
I thought for sure he would be a Dodger after the Puig trade. I never would of guessed he and Machado would still be unsigned after all this time.

Machado will go to the Padres 8 years for 26/27 million and Harper will go to the Phillies for 28/29 million a year

Padres has a very good farm system right now and they could be contenders in the NL within the next 2-3 years. Machado is still young but he has been in MLB for a while now. The question would be is he willing to be patient and go through the growing pains of a club that I guess is trying to rebuild? Could be a good fit but it is hard to tell what he is actually looking for.

The Padres could be the breakout team in 2020. Tatis, Urias, Mejia, Paddack, Baez, Quantril, and Allen should all be in the majors by then, and they'd still have a top 5 organization.
Hosmer, Urias, Machado, Tatis could be a nice infield.

As a Yankees fan, I'm pumped about Andujar this upcoming season. He has worked on his defense all offseason and is just a natural hitter. I could see a .285/.330/.535 type season out of him. Also, I think defensively he goes from -3 WAR fielding to -1 or 0 which mould make him a 3-4 WAR player.

Reds making a strong push for Realmuto.
Posted on 1/28/19 at 4:15 pm to reddman
I dunno if it would make them a playoff team but Reds lineup would be pretty stacked if they can make this deal without giving up Senzel
