If Saban retired next year what are the odds DeBoer would be on the list?

DeBoer is a risky hire. I hope he's more Tom Herman than Nate Oaks. We'll see.

Actually some of that 37-9 was in the Mountain West.

He has Saban sitting on his shoulder and he’ll be teaching him the ropes for the next couple of years I’m sure.

You mean micromanaging?

He’s young and you have to start somewhere.

Great question. Say next year Deboer/UW goes 7-5 without Penix, Odunze & Co…I don’t think he’s even getting mentioned.

Now do his record elsewhere. He is good dipshit.

I thought this was a reference to Tulane Football

My point is that I wouldn’t put much stock in Deboer’s record in that league. Probably like a high school coaching record.
Ok, just run with his 22-3 record at UW on a team that was 4-8 the previous year and made the CFP final in 2 seasons in the program...

. Before NIL, NAIA could give athletic scholarships and had fewer academic restrictions (for reference, only D1 and D2 can provide athletic scholarships in NCAA). NAIA schools compete with the D2 schools for kids out of HS. They’ll also get D1 kids with academic issues, HS nonqualifiers, and JUCO kids who don’t go D1.
This will tell the a lot of the story. What kind of program does Sioux Falls have before and after DeBoer? Any built in advantages vs other naia? Some naia schools will give unlimited scholarships to build a football team, but most give unlimited partial football scholarships to increase enrollment at the school and bring in tuition money.

Don't make them out to be some horrible team that he turned around. They returned most of the players who were 11-6 in the previous 2 seasons before all WITHOUT Penix and Odunze... of which they were 2-2 against ranked teams including rival USC.

that’s awesome!
2-4 is awesome. Rebuild or not it’s a great record.

NAIA is somewhere between DIII and DII. NAIA has scholarships and is willing to take kids who couldn't meet the academic standard of DII and DIII conferences. The NAIA exists now as a way for smaller schools to exist and admit more students for enrollment and financial reasons. Kids who can't afford DIII or don't have the grades for DII or DIII go to NAIA schools. The quality of NAIA schools is better than what most of you think, but NAIA exists to just get kids in college.

People are shitting in this hire just because he coached at the naia level are fricking dumb.
A) he brought that program somewhere it had never been before. Yes they had success before him but not to that level and not since he’s left.
B) yall act like he was coaching against junior highs with college age kids there. The playing field was equal.
C) and most importantly he’s been successful at other stops including turning the Washington program around in very short order. None of this guarantees he’ll be successful at Bama but I think his resume shows you’d be dumb to bet against him.

DeBoer is 12-2 vs. top 25 teams as a D1 coach. Some of you can try to convince yourselves of whatever you want to, but that is extremely impresssive. The guy, by all accounts, can flat out coach.
