The reaction from NBA fans to last night's Shai flop fest is pretty amusing. Fans of 29 teams were pissed last night on basically every internet platform for NBA fan discourse.

Even Bill Simmons jumped in to complain about SGA on both Twitter and then after the game on his pod.

Pretty funny context given the MVP is being announced today.

Jokic though, who is an even worse flopper than SGA.

Have yet to see a “flop” every play last night was a textbook foul. The Denver cope is nuts.

It’s honestly pretty sad, they’re still in here whining about SGA when he had maybe three or four free throws that were gimmies.

SGA moves differently than anyone else on the planet, he’s unguardable so teams are forced to foul. Then they whine about getting called for fouls. Bitch behavior from supposedly grown men.

Are you really trying to say SGA doesn't flop on every shot he's touched? Do you really believe that?

(Not a Nuggets fan lmao)

Almost all the stars flop, obviously. But it's incredibly frustrating to watch a team whose defensive gameplan is smothering, physical, borderline-constant-foul type play (which I'd guess most people, including me actually like) have an offensive player who is pretty skilled but constantly foul baits and gets calls that aren't being called on the other end. It's a pretty frustrating watch as a neutral fan personally.

Textbook foul

Another one

Textbook foul that was overturned

Goes down when touched

Man I hope you never gave Harden any shite. It's not fun to watch any player go overboard to draw fouls. Hated when CP3, Harden or whoever else was doing it and hate it now.

He obviously doesn’t flop every time he’s touched. He does sometimes, like every other player in the NBA. People just love to complain.

Haters say the NBA sucks because everyone jacks up threes, along comes SGA who’s a master at driving and midrange, almost never shoots threes, and people complain that he draws fouls.

If you don’t want him at the free throw line you can either guard without fouling, which is impossible for a player like him, or let him get to the rim unmolested. Pick your poison because there’s no stopping him. That’s why he’s MVP.

Those are all fouls. Hipchecks, hooks hands when he drives and trips him up on one. All fouls get your bias out of here,

This board gives Jokic rimjobs while he does bullshite and jumps on people but SGA gets hit and people lose their minds.

It was a pretty boring game last night. The NBA and ABC are praying that the Knicks beat the Pacers… as talented as the pacers and OKC are, they just won’t bring in a large viewership.

I think with newer teams the viewership will be fine. Of course NY is #1 market and NBA would love to have them. But so far its looking good thru first 2 rounds

Some of the most viewed games of the 2010s were when OKC had KD/Russ. Basketball is about stars and has been for a long time. The NBA wants the stars to succeed, the teams honestly mean little to a certain extent.

Most FTA/G in a single playoff run:

1. 1995 Malone
2. 1996 Reggie Miller
3. 2020 Embiid
4. 1999 Shaq
5. 1952 Cousy

[gap]

257. 2025 SGA

Crazy stat:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander drove 28 times yesterday, per Second Spectrum.

The ENTIRE Wolves starting 5 drove only 27 times combined

And this:

Wolves led at halftime.

OKC outscored Minnesota by 30 in the 2nd half. 4 points were from SGA free throws.

SGA scored 20 points on 8-14 shooting with 5 assists in the 2nd half.

OKC won by 26.

Things that were said:

Before and during season Thunder are too young. Chet was too skinny. Thunder screwed up trading Giddy for Caruso. Thunder are not physical enough. Its just reg season and meaningless.

Now during playoffs. Thunder are too physical and we can’t let that stand its not fair and waaaaa I want my mommy.

Its crazy how the narratives have changed lol

Evidently SGA has the highest PPG adjusted for free throws in the league this year.

I get that drawing fouls is part of his game and that understandably people hate that. But the idea that he just fishes for fouls and isn’t a great player beside that is nuts. It’s literally statistically not true lol.

Yeah we went over that months ago in the MVP threads, people either dont wanna hear it or their brains can’t accept it.

They would say “Shai only leads in PPG because of foul baiting,” then you point out that he led PPG even without free throws and they just start drooling.
