That may be true, but it's two different buckets. You can't pay for sports with research grants or endowment money that isn't earmarked for sports.
The reality is that nobody is leaving the B1G or the SEC any time soon because they make the most money. No amount of infighting will trump cash. A more likely scenario is the B1G and SEC raiding the ACC in 2036. By the time their TV deal ends in 2036 they'll be WAY behind what the SEC and B1G are about to get.

That's sort of my point. THere's so much funding for B1G universities that it would be foolish to forego some or all of that funding for sports. They are academic institutions after all.
