There’s a couple of different avenues for the HoF selections.
Standard:
This is the normal route players are selected. The eligible players are whittled down to 15 finalists. From that pool of 15, a max of 5 can be voted in. This year there were 4.
Coaches/ contributors/ senior players:
The coaches have a group of finalists, the contributors (owners, GMs, etc) have a group, and a group of players retired more than 25 years.
Out of all those various categories, five people are selected to be put before the voters.
1 owner
1 contributor
3 senior players
All five can technically be voted in. This year only Roger Craig made the cut.
HOWEVER, only a maximum of 8 people can be enshrined in a single year between the standard pool of modern day players and the secondary pool of coaches, execs, and senior players.
