That was a joke.
Also IMHO if you are trying to lateral the ball around if the other teams gets it, it shouldn't matter if it was forward or not. If you throw the ball it should be able to be recovered by the defense on that type of play.

Pretty sure the pats could’ve declined and kept the recovery if there weren’t offsetting penalties
