The Cowboys called a dumb play and the ref is supposed to set the ball, but no one will address why the ref is so far away with seconds left in a playoff game. 30 yards away seems excessive

Where is he supposed to be and what does the fact that it's a playoff game have to do with anything?

Even if one of the side judges spot it, then the Cowboys would still have to wait a few seconds for him to then run to the sideline before they could snap it.

There is only one side judge and the only time the side judge is responsible for a spot(other than reverse mechanics) is from the 2 and in.

I love how Dak just gives the ball to his center and seemingly tries to hike the ball and the ref has to plow through the line to say...uh, yeah you can't spot the ball yourself. This isn't Sandlot.

know they used to move the umpire back to behind the DL in 2 minute situations, I guess they don’t do that anymore

The reasons they moved the U to behind the OL don’t suddenly change in the last 2 minutes.

In playground youth football you know an official has to spot the ball. Why didn’t Dak hand it to thr umpire as he was running to the line?

You do the right thing and throw a few passes to the sidelines and get out of bounds & then w/ 14 seconds & no timeouts inexplicably you run up the middle of the field about 20 yds , then expect to spot the ball yourselves, clock of course runs out ...AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO BLAME THE REFS :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Dak doesn’t know the rules and tries to blame the loss on the refs. Typical cowboys

This could all be solved by stopping the clock to set the chains/spot the ball after a 1st like we’ve been doing in college for, what, 20 years?

Blame the cluster frick of a play call. That had no chance of working out. WTF McCarthy?

Had the players been prepared and not tried to run the play on their own, AND provided a path so the ref could spot the ball, the Cowboys would almost have certainly have had at least a second left to run a play. Of course, that would have only given them about a 10% chance of getting a touchdown.

But, THIS is something that every team should practice every week and it should be ingrained in every player's brain.

The whole operation was a clown show. The combined IQ of McCarthy, Dak and Randy Gregory is in double digits.

I should put that slack jawed moran Kellen Moore on that list too. Dude needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut on the sideline.

We found the Culotta's producer on his youtube show. Dude was just trying to make this same argument. Needs to go read a rule book.

Dak should be suspended for those comments supporting violence against the refs. Utterly pathetic when the refs literally did everything they could to help the Cowboys.

Hell, Samuels run on 3rd down somehow took 1 second after they added time onto the clock, which was absurd to begin with.

Officials helped the Cowboys more than anything and the QB that screws up any chance for Dallas is fine with fans assaulting those officials.

The back judge is 30 yards away because any reasonable person is expecting a deep throw in that situation and the officials are supposed to keep everything in front of them.

Dallas was trying to be cute and fool everyone... and that they did, including themselves.

Yep. More than likely he was at the GL by the time the play was over.

I explained the same thing last night and didn't get a response back. Can't refute facts.

Absolutely. The right call is to throw it twice into the end zone...once with every a handful of DBs playing the sideline.

I think you can do it twice with 14 seconds.

People really showing their idiocy trying to blame the refs

Yep. Let's not put any blame on Dak for running downfield---IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD----way farther than he should have and with no chance to get out of bounds to stop the clock.

By rule, the ref has to spot the ball and it wasn't his fault Dallas players were lined up shoulder to shoulder hovering over the ball before he could set it.

Nobody realizes that the line of scrimmage was back at the 21 where he started his slide. Not the 18 where they tried to spot it. No way they get moved back 3 yards in a few seconds.

Cowboys are dumb
