Memphis should focus solely on basketball going forward. Theyre never going to be a power player in football or baseball, and 200 million goes a long way.
You don’t need to be P5 in NCAAB to get in the tourney. This seems like a poor use of really valuable resources.

Given the history of Memphis trying to get into a big conference, this isn't surprising. I'm shocked they could throw around 200 million though.

You'd think they wouldn't have to buy their way in. Makes geographic sense even if that means less than it used to. Decent academic profile. Recruiting pipeline into Louisiana. We know better but NOLA is seen as a good travel destination. They proved they can be respectable in football.
