Wonder who they put Max up against next? I'd Imagine he gets loser of Makhachev vs Topuria while the champion faces winner of Gaethje vs Tsarukyan. Not sure how else that would be set up.

I'd have to go back and watch. Did Poirier mess up his chance of closing out the fight by shooting that guilly? Someone mentioned that he could have locked in a D'Arce and that that would have served him better.

If so... man, he was told by his corner not to be shooting the guilly so many times in his career. To end on a loss because of this thing that was like a running joke... Rough.

He nearly had Max out.

Live by the guillotine, die by the guillotine.

Except Dustin has never gotten it ever lol

Actually, fun fact, Poirier choked out Dan Hooker with the guillotine, but the ref didn't even realize it, and Hooker woke back up and the fight went on.

About the 3:10 mark Hooker tells the story:

I know. I didn’t count that one. Even if we do, point remains the same lol

It’s time we come up with an unfortunate nickname for people who whine about cards before they happen.

This was a fun night from start to finish and this card was almost universally trashed before today

I enjoyed the fights and it was nice seeing a packed arena, but it did seem like the enthusiasm was lacking compared to other UFC events I’ve watched. Can’t say I’m completely surprised by this considering the last 8 fights went to decision.

Dana on White House card:

Jon Jones is out. Not about aything with the title. He can't risk Jones fricking up a card as big as one at the WH.

I suspect only the most solid guys will be on that card. No weight misses. No unpredictability. No pulling out of fights.

Said he'd loves Nate Diaz, who wants Conor pt 3 on that event.

I was pleasantly surprised how packed the arena was--especially since there seemed to be so many tickets available late. Gives me hope that the UFC will come back to NOLA.

Couldnt watch last night, had a 230am alarm clock this morning. Glad to hear it was a packed house hopefully everybody had a good time and we get some more of these.

Smart money was on Holloway as i told my buddies before the fight. He's in his prime and just fought for the belt and gave Ilia a great fight before he got caught. With that being said i still told them to bet on Dustin, its just hard to bet againt the home town legend

Day time card next weekend in Abu Dhabi

If Islam beats JDM, I think he'd probably prefer to face Topuria at welterweight. For the reason we just saw tonight--Max looked like he had more power at the higher weight. And even for Topuria, 170 might be stretching the limits of how far he can outkick his coverage / how much he can compensate for his height / weight.

Of course, the possibility of becoming a triple champ at welterweight means Topuria would probably also favor fighting Islam at 170.

Max, Gaethje, Arman, Paddy. It sounds like either Paddy or Arman will fight Topuria near the end of this year. I'm sure Gaethje would like to get that UFC 300 KO back vs. Max. Rebooking the Dan Hooker fight is also there for Gaethje. Maybe Max fights Paddy if Arman fights Topuria? Charles Oliveira in recovery but still there.

Dana post fight presser notes

-18k+ attendance and a sell out, highest ever grossing event in the SKC

-Allen-Vittori win fight of the night

-when asked about future events in Nola, says governor has been amazing, the athletic commision has been incredible and friday night was his first time on bourbon street since he was thinking of buying the UFC was back in the 90s/early 2000s, says Caesars was awesome, and he loved how Louisiana supports their own, definitely will be back (hell yea)

-says Max is in a great spot for a rematch with Ilia

-Movsar vs Pico off for next weekend (didnt know that, that sucks)

-Harrison wants Nunes to have an exemption on the full 6 months of USADA testing so she can fight her sooner, Dana says he dosent hate it

-asked about white house card, says its a year away so not worried about it right now but Connor-Diaz 3 brought up and Bones apparently says he wants to fight on it but dana says he cant risk putting him on the big a card

This is excellent news, but let’s get some of our big money people to show Dana around outside bourbon street

Caesar’s apparently does a really good job hosting VIP / Celebrity guests so that’s good to hear.

He seemed to indicate they would like to return on a yearly basis. I think Caesars played a big part in that
