USC has to completely distroy the rest of their schedule. They have to rely on that boner that herbsteet gets when he talks about them to get to the championship game because their resume is not gonna get them there this year. If they let a Stanford or UCLA hangs around and makes them look anything less then completely dominant then they will fall out of favor. If LSU looks good against 4 top 10 teams then you can't keep USC ahead of them.

I think LSU is a fine football team, and is probably better than Georgia as long as you continue to get good QB play from Lee.

Still, Florida is my pick to win the SEC.

If you beat them at home and win the rest of your games, there's no reason to think LSU couldn't be
number one.

That said, we're really not a bad pick to be #1 either. Hard to find a more complete football team with the kind of depth and experience we have.

Most of us would agree with this.

However, it's unfair that the top teams in the SEC have to play against one another while USC would play no one on their way to the championship game.

Not really. The media has pretty much said they are willing to "forgive" a loss of the SEC's three main contenders to one another, and they would jump us over other undefeated teams.

USC on the other hand, has to not only win ALL of their games with no exception, they have to blow them all out and accure style points.

Seems pretty even to me.

They would never jump a one loss team over another undefeated BCS team! Even if it is a one point road loss to a top 5 team. A loss is a loss and shouldn't be ignored no matter how "good" a loss it is. An undefeated Mizzou or OU goes before a one loss LSU, UGA or UF!

Per Fox sports

Quick quiz
Other than USC, who has the longest winning streak in the Pac-10, and how many?

Quiz answer
Let's see, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona, and Stanford ... all tied with one.

we do it to Hawaii, Boise St....why not USC.

USC definitely passes the looks test, they look like a great team, but when you are tested once a year you really never know.

-Bingo

Agreed, I think USC is a great team, I hate them but they're a great time. At this point though, they literally don't play one team currently ranked in the top 25 the rest of the year.

1. USC (62) 2-0 1,621
2. Oklahoma 3-0 1,484
3. Georgia (2) 4-0 1,475
4. Florida (1) 3-0 1,442
5. LSU 3-0 1,363
6. Missouri 4-0 1,360
7. Texas 3-0 1,174
8. Alabama 4-0 1,132
9. Wisconsin 3-0 1,091
10. Texas Tech 4-0 962
11. Brigham Young 4-0 919
12. Penn State 4-0 891
13. South Florida 4-0 798
14. Ohio State 3-1 790
15. Auburn 3-1 785
16. Wake Forest 3-0 711
17. Utah 4-0 574
18. Kansas 3-1 555
19. Boise State 3-0 363
20. Clemson 3-1 300
21. Vanderbilt 4-0 242
22. Illinois 2-1 224
23. East Carolina 3-1 201
24. TCU 4-0 117
25. Fresno State 2-1 105

After Utah beats Wazzou, SEVEN of the 10 Pac 10 teams will have lost to non-BCS conference opponents. Oregon State and Cal would be the only one's without that distinction (assuming Cal beats Colorado State)

Other than have having a lot of "potential" should one win over a top 25 team put you in the NCG?

I'm just tired of all of the "they're obviously the most dominant" talk.

If they were so dominant, they would be losing games to unranked teams, and they would have more than one Crystal Football. That is all. Stating those facts doesn't mean you think USC sucks. They are obviously one of the top 3 or 4 teams in college football (like they are every year lately), but nothing on their resume, now or later, says you can put them "head and shoulders" above everyone else.

Agreed, it is getting more like Duke is basketball. It is just assumed they are above everyone.

Only because they would only have 8 SEC games, if you don't count the conference championship.

The only SEC team that would really challenge USC at this point in the season is Florida, IMHO.

LSU is still finding itself, and Auburn's woeful offense isn't a patch on USC's. We'd score more than 30 on your boys. We have a great run defense, and the pass rush would kill Lee. I really like our chances against LSU. That's why I hope we get to meet in the BCSCG.

UGA has Knowshon. He's for real, but 8 in the box works to stop him, as long as you have good cover corners for man.

We do. Stafford can't beat us with his arm, and although UGA's defense is nice, they're not THAT nice.

Auburn has a great D, but we'd score more than their offense with our Defense. Game over by halftime, SC wins big.

Bama hasn't really arrived yet, and nobody else in the SEC is worth mentioning, except Vandy for "most improved".

votes

if we give each state the same amount of votes they wouldn't be ranked where they are. media gets more votes out of cal and ny than any other

Never say never...

For example: We lose to UF, win out, play them again in the SEC championship and win, giving UF their first loss.

Do you really think they will leave us out for favor of undefeated Wisconsin?

I would agree with this.

But I also feel that if we can truely resolve our QB issues (And there is now hope of that with Lee), LSU is literally the only team in the country that can match USC's speed and altheticism at essentially every position. I am willing to bet had RP stayed, we would have been the unanimous #1.

Unanimity is pretty hard to come by in college football, but yeah, LSU has the chance to be really good if the level of play we saw last night continues.

And what a blissful train wreck of a football game we'd have in South Florida in January if LSU and USC were the BCSCG participants.

The scheduling that USC does outside the Pac-10 is always, on paper, up to par with anyone else out there. They rarely ever schedule cream puff schools or those who at least should be good. It is too bad that the conference they are in (and how they make all their money just like every school save Notre Dame) sucks. I bet you Petey would love to at least play one more big game b/c as it is looking now, that will not be the case.
