even more fricked up is if Miami wins this dude has to miss the first half of the championship for a completely routine tackle
Posted on 1/8/26 at 9:46 pm to KosmoCramer
Exactly no way in hell that Ole miss call wasn't targeting.

how can you penalize a DB tackling low when the receiver falls low it makes no sense
listening to the rules expert define a “launch” on a tackle is hilarious…a tackle is forcible by definition

It needs to be like basketball flagrant 1 and 2. Personal foul on a high hit but no intent, targeting and ejection on high hit with clear intent.

it needs to be removed because it’s the most ambiguous stupid rule in existence

now it’s official, guy has to miss an entire half of a championship game for a routine tackle

Targeting is when you hit the the guy hard enough to make it onto the replay booth for review. Then it is dissected every which haway so that a judgement can be made in remote office. Playing football is a real time event. It occurs at full speed. Faster than a car wreck. Football is a violent sport. Injuries occur in every game. If you want a safe sport with no chance of sustaining an injury chess and other board games fit the bill.

Targeting and Making Forcible Contact With the Crown of the Helmet ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of his helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting
I thought this was one of 2 rules that is “targeting”. The other being “contact with head or neck area of a defenseless player”
They should call the one with the “crown” spearing or something
Like I saw mentioned last night, if there’s clear intent, kick them out. But if it’s just a bang-bang play just flag them and leave the player in the game. To me, the play where the Miami DL lunged at the OM player laying on the ground is more egregiously intentional to harm than any targeting I have seen this year.
