Doing this now they must have a handshake deal with someone out of left field.

Campbell is not “California cool” enough for USC. USC demands some level of swagger and exuberance that he does not possess.

He wears curved hats with a shiny hook on the bill.

USC decides to return to its glory days and brings back someone who knows their program, knows the big donors (both legal and illegal) and can recruit. He's a coach who beat their rivals regularly (UCLA, Stanford and unfortunately, for me, Notre Dame).

USC brings back a Southern Cal legend, former coach....... Pete Carroll.

If they are going to spend big money:

Lincoln Riley. He sees the tough SEC schedule he's going to have to navigate in the future and bales before he has his first three loss regular season.

Brian Kelly. Will be easier to recruit kids to USC. The Trojans can make the CFB Playoff with West Coast talent alone. At ND, he has to recruit nationally.

If they go cheap:

Jamey Chadwell. The Coastal Carolina coach who led the Chanticleers to an undefeated regular season, with wins against an otherwise undefeated BYU team and a Big XII team, in the school's fourth year as an FBS team.

Jason Candle. The Toledo coach. Would Notre Dame have been able to come back Sat. with him coaching USC's talent?

What a downgrade USC would be. He already made $1M more than Helton, what do they offer him that he doesn’t already have better?

He’s already great at a superior program that’s going to get better with Nike making it rain on players

Harbaugh. Has won at every stop in California, including the pros. Low buyout at Michigan.
