some physicist with too much time on his hands supposedly analyzed the batspeed of a bunch of major leaguers
what was interesting about the pujols analysis was his batspeed is fairly unremarkable/average... but what was excellent was his ability to get the bat into the same plane as the ball (good anticipation and vision is implied I think) and keep it in that plane through contact

I never really looked at Pujols' swing before seeing that clip I posted. But what you posted made sense. If you look at his pass at the ball, he has a very compact swing, his hands and body are in sync and he makes a very level swing at the ball all the way through the hitting area.

In regards to Upton, I don't care that he's not really producing this year. This isn't a performance comparison. The dude has one of the most laconic, easy-looking swings I think I've ever seen.

You people are locked into your own era. Boog Powell had the prettiest swing I've ever seen and I've seen both he and Griffey.

It would be physically impossible to have a prettier swing than Griffey's

Me too. But it always drove me crazy that he would never move up to the plate a little even when they pitched him away for the last 5 years.

A Rod and Pujols from the right side and nobody has a prettier swing than Robinson Cano from the left side.
