Wow. Just an overall great movie. Cooper’s acting chops mixed with Gaga’s musical prowess, throw in one of the better soundtracks I’ve ever heard and it was a big hit for me. Gonna win a lot of awards, oscars, Grammys, all that shite.

Just got out. I have been anticipating this movie all year, so my expectations were pretty high. This movie still blew me away.
I like Bradley Cooper, but I love Lady Gaga.
Both were outstanding. Gaga will certainly be nominated for Best Actress, but Bradley Cooper was on another planet. I can't imagine anyone beating him out for Best Actor.
Shallow will win Best Original Song.
Andrew Dice Clay was amazingly subtle. Best Supporting Actor subtle??? Maybe. Maybe not. He was really good, though.
Sam Elliott was Sam Elliott. Solid.

"Is that Alright" is such a phenomenal song. It'll be a popular wedding song for a long time lol.

Gaga looks better without all that makeup. The orange/red hair looked terrible on her and I hate how they turned her character into a Brittany Spears type singer

There was a very clear reason why that happened...

I watched tonight @ 6 and it was basically sold out minus first two rows. I haven’t been to the movies in a while because I usually just stream.. but I love Bradley Cooper and the reviews had me so damn excited I wanted to give them my $.
First I want to talk about the production value. They will win every fricking award for the music and cinematography. I was taken aback at one point when I realized how into one of the concert scenes I was. It felt like you were at the concert. Also the camera work and some of the angles they show you are just amazing and show the perfect emotion.
*** possible spoilers ***
Something that amazed me was their ability to make you so emotionally raw to the characters enotions.. the entire theatre laughed hard probably 10 times. And by the end I’m not sure how you couldn’t be shedding tears. As a 28 year old man I was trying my hardest but damn the tears couldn’t be stopped as Lady Gaga sang that final song. Damn
I think the storyline had a few things that annoyed me that were maybe out of place or could’ve been shown better... but to me a great movie is one that grabs your attention ( I have adhd and always on my phone and didn’t touch it once in 2.5 hours) and makes you emotionally invested in the characters and care about the outcome... this did that in spades.
If Bradley Cooper doesn’t win the Oscar for best Actor I will pull a Kanye myself. I’m 90% sure he’s an actual alcoholic after that, it was just so convincing. Lady Gaga’s first scene singing on stage was so raw and just perfection. They should get awards for the music easily and cinematography. And I dare see a better directed film.
I may be on a high, but these are my thoughts after seeing the movie a few hours ago. Go see it for yourselves and support a phenomenal movie.

A Star is Born is based on real life couple Frank Fay and Barbara Stanwyck.
Barbara Stanwyck meet Frank while playing in Burlesque, introduced to him by Oscar Levant. Frank at that time (1928)was the highest paid vaudeville player, making 17,500 a week. Barbara had by that time already been a minor player in the Ziegfeld Follies and small stage parts.
Frank was signed up to go to Hollywood by Warner Brothers to do some testing, Barbara by this time pushed by Frank into films back east came along to support Frank's carrier and the rest is history. Frank the star becomes a fading star and Barbara becomes the super star.

I was reading up on the soundtrack last night and while most people know Gaga and Cooper sang and wrote all of the songs with the help of Jason Isbell, willie Nelson’s son and a few others, I did not know that the songs were live versions of themselves sung on set and not in a studio. Makes the concert scenes that more powerful. I’m still buzzing on this movie. Go see it in the theater, esp if you are a music/concert fan. I was never a Gaga fan until she came on Howard Stern in 2011. Always liked her after those performances and the following interviews she did on the Stern show, but man after last night, I’m head over heels.

Saw it last night, amazing movie and lives up to the hype. The sound will blow you away, felt like I was at a concert multiple times. Thought I might’ve needed ear plugs for the opening scene, felt sorry for the elderly in attendance for that one.
And to whoever said they got chills when Gaga is invited to sing on stage and gets into it..same bro, same.

I am never in this board but dropped in to say how much the wife and I enjoyed it.
Cooper and GaGa were unreal. Cooper , never having played nor written music was phenomenal.
My 2 bits. Oscar worthy

I know Isbell wrote "Maybe it's Time", which makes perfect sense if you know his history. Not sure who contributed to other individual songs. Wife and I saw the film last night, and were both blown away. Within the first 15 minutes I knew I was watching something special. Theater was packed too

Most were by Gaga, Cooper, Lukas Nelson, and Mark Ronson.

7:15 showing at AMC Mall of Louisiana was only about 20% occupied. Maybe less. I was surprised.
I don't even think the crowd for Venom was that big. I thought Friday night was prime viewing for movies. I haven't been to a Friday night movie...I can't remember when.

Rex Reed's REVIEW. He's such a bitter old queen (not that there's anything wrong with that...
). How dare someone step on his dear Judy Garland's toes! Oh...he's an LSU Alum. Yay.

That being said, I must also add that the fawning critical slobber being dumped on this film, while not exactly misguided, is still very much out of synch with reality. One moron in Chicago even calls it “the greatest Star is Born of all time,” which is not only ridiculous but a bald-faced lie.

Film critics are the biggest blowhards on the planet. Like bro enjoy the greatness you’re witnessing.

You should read the review from The National Review magazine. The whole review is basically “narcissist Hollywood Libtards jizzing all over themselves.”
It’s a fricking joke.
