I don't look forward to it like I used to. I feel almost obligated to finish it.

My opinion is the same as yours. And some of the changes have been for the better. The only royal big time screw up IMO is Dorne (and I wasn't even a big Dorne fan in the books).

I watched Dexter till the very end. I think I can stick out GoT no matter how bad Dorne gets.

I quit halfway into season 3.
I don't think it sucks, and I fully realize and acknowledge that it's actually pretty cool and I can see why it's so highly praised. It just isn't for me. Nothing wrong with that.

Im still in but its getting harder and harder to see an ending in which all the main characters cross paths. Plotlines are not only growing into foreign locations involving new people, but new generations of backstory keep popping up. There are already multiple generations of events he can write about, roughly forty books directly referenced Westeros history or mythology books writen into the story. Its time to bring the fire and ice story with these specific characters to a compelling resolution.

The Misses is right there with you I believe. She seemed less than enthusiastic last Sunday.
It's only been one episode this season so I am still open minded about this season, but I hope to hell this next episode is an improvement on last weekend.

dont know if you're talking about the books or the TV show
the books, cant speak to, I'll never read that
but the TV show...I havent "given up" on the show, but since the last season or so have failed to keep up the intrigue, I dont care so much if I watch it when it airs, or 3 days later. It's on, I watch it, I'm doing something else, dont care.
last season, I fell about 2 or 3 weeks behind, and had lost enough interest that I didnt miss it.

The show is as good as ever. So no.

I can't believe that you've read the books if you actually think this.

It's not difficult. The books are the books. The show is the show.

I agree that the last two books sucked arse. As did the last season on TV.
I've given up any hope of it returning to the greatness of the first three books and naturally the first four seasons. But I'll still watch.

seasons 1 and 2 are the best. the rest have relied on major character deaths, so much so that it has become a gimmick. they save everything for the last 3 episodes of each season now
still better than most stuff, but a marked drop in quality from Seasons 1 and 2

Too Many Characters Syndrome. Some popular shows like GOT and Twin Peaks just to name a few become so popular that creators, producers, etc. throw in more character parts for people they know for whatever reason (sex, drugs, power, whatever) and the show becomes completely diluted and uninteresting.
Some of the really great shows like Breaking Bad did not fall for that weakness.
