i spent 12.99 for the free 7 days watched and cancelled already. the first one was CLASSIC this one wasn't good wasn't bad. they even had a joke in the movie about sequels sucking.

I turned it off when it was over as I didn't want to watch John Legend sing.

I did notice a word in one of the sticks or canes.

Liked the Snipes character.

Needed Darryl and Lisa’s sister.

Needed more Akeem and Semmi in Queens.

She died in like 1995, she was also Simba's mom's voice in the animated lion king.

It was really good and I was rolling at the end. Probably better since I had low expectations..

I'd rather watch more real life stories from Charlie Murphy & Dave Chappel than watch A. Hall & Eddie Murphy.

I can't even believe how bad that movie was. I love Eddie Murphy and "Coming to America" is one of my favorite comedies of all time, but that was just terrible in every way even though I had some really low expectations. I thought maybe the reviewers on Amazon were being overly harsh just because it wasn't the original, but now I see why Paramount dumped the movie. Corny lines, bad acting and very few genuine laughs. I don't think I really laughed until about 25 minutes in with the barber scene with the dude in the chair making the baby joke (and there wasn't much to laugh at after that scene). I now understand the many 1-star reviews on Amazon.

3/10.

Wasn't nearly as funny as the first one. The only parts that made me lol...were the parts where people were ripping on arsenio hall.

The main plot was eh. We all knew his eldest daughter would end up as queen...but they took too many detours to get there. The scene was set in the beginning, that she was the perfect heir. So everything else was an unnecessary detour, especially akeem mysteriously becoming just like his father.

Every black American in queens, is apparently ghettofied to the point where they act like Tracey Morgan's character. Nasty stereotypes. In the first movie, in queens.. black Americans were portrayed in all shades of class, and personality.

Wasn't expecting much at all.. however I think it would have been a good bit better if they stuck with the original characters.. adding the kids uncle and mother screwed it up for me..

Was really hoping we’d see cameos from Darryl and Patrice as well as Samuel L Jackson.

It was okay. I wouldn’t pay to watch it but enjoyable enough.

I had low expectations. There were some funny moments. Leslie Jones really cannot play any character other than angry black woman. It was very predictable.

But it definitely didn’t take itself too seriously and had some great nostalgia moments. The King demanding he be at his own funeral narrated by Morgan Freeman was really great.

As some have said, there were funny moments, but the film as a whole was pretty mediocre.

The funniest part to me was a reference in C2A to something from CTA that itself was only a reference to Trading Places ... Lavelle interviewing at Duke & Duke, with the oblique shot at the boss’s grandfather and great uncle.

EDIT
I see lots of folks complaining that the job interview was just SJW nonsense. The whole film was SJW nonsense to some extent. The incorporation of the Dukes into the story was still funny.

The noteworthy part of that was the throwback to Randolph and Mortimer Duke from Trading Places.

To this day, I still find people watching CTA who do not recognize the Bellamy and Ameche cameo as being Randolph and Mortimer from Trading Places.

I suppose it is not surprising that so many people miss the point in C2A, still further-removed from the original TP film.

It’s meaningless to even try to compare C2A to CTA. One is a classic fish out of water story with charming original elements. Obviously CTA is one of the best comedies of all time.

You just can’t judge C2A through that same lens. It’s a self aware, corporate nostalgia trip that’s pretty much a parody of the original. If you view it as just that going in, then it’s easier to watch. Sure it’s a shame that they can’t recreate the feeling of the original but I don’t expect any sequel like this to do that. Akeem’s son was the weakest link even though Tracy Morgan & Leslie Jones were pretty terrible. His whole plot was extremely forced and disjointed. There was a point where I was wondering if we would see Akeem & Semi again.

I just hope Leslie Jones doesn’t have a cameo in Top Gun 2 because she’s on a winning streak when it comes to ruining beloved 80’s movies.

BTW, Lisa is still fire
