I never understood why people disliked Dan's threads, fwiw.
So there aren't any other Jodi fans? I think it's a little weird how she looks more like a younger Jennifer Beals than Jennifer Beals herself at that age, but she is fine.
Serious question. Does Milla Jovovich have more than 4 lines in the entire movie?

So based on the listing of famous actors in this movie, and their lack time in the movie, i'm going to guess Dan went to IMDB, looked them all up, posted them and has probably never seen the movie.

Dazed and Confused would probably be in my top ten. I love that movie.

The content of his threads wouldn't matter if it were one or two a week. Dan posts too much, that's what the problem is, as he posts 3+ per day every day. And will always keep two posts on the front page regardless of what the topic is. Dan posts as soon as a topic drops to the second page. Algorithm.

of his 4,000+ post. I'd be willing to bet more than 3/4 are topic starters. never participates in any other threads and hardly his own after his initial post.
Dan would be a decent poster if he just didn't start threads.

Exactly. I easily have double the posts that Dan does on the M/TV Board and probably 1/3 of the thread starts if that says anything.
This isn't the OT we don't need a new thread every minute of the day, long form discussion is a good thing here. Like I don't know, the great Inception thread, the 2010 Music thread, the 100 Movies thread, old Lost threads, etc. Those are quality threads.

Because Dan doesn't care about the discussion at all. Dan only cares about having threads on the front page. That's it. It's the only thing that makes sense. He asks for simple answers in list format, he speaks in hyperbole, and doesn't try to spark debate, discussion or even humor. It's just factual and informational with a focus on list from users that have no point. No consensus, no tally, no nothing.
This is my biggest complaint about Dan. He's like China at the Olympics. I think that he thinks by having threads on the front page people will respect him or think he is a good poster. Regardless of the content, he wants people to see his name in the 2nd column on the front page. That's it.
He doesn't realize that the reason people like and respect posters around here is because they add to the total discussion, not just because they start threads.

I would agree with this. Dan allows this threads to become about him(Dan) instead of the topic that he started.
I'd also like it Dan if you would go into more detail about why you liked a film instead of merely stating that you liked it. I do that myself a lot but never in a review thread that I start.
I'd also like to see you branch out from being focused on just stars and also take interest in who really makes films, writers, directors, cinematographers, producers,etc.
I've believed Dan has potential as a movie board poster he just needs more focus.

Not even that. Questions about film, media, culture, etc. But just starting random threads about actors and movies for no reason at all is pointless.

You guys spend more time bitching about Dan than you do about anything else on the board.
It really does crack me up. I know I know I know. It is just so damn hard to scan 2 pages instead of one. It is such a herculean effort to click on page 2.
I do wish he would actually comment on a movie and let us know why he actually likes it. I also would like to see him branch out to negative comments.
He can be a game changer with The Three Worst Movies About Cars or The Three Worst Movies With Paul Newmann. Man that would spice things up.

What I meant is he allows it by not coming back to defend his position. If he would simply come back to the thread answer the questions and criticisms he could get his threads back on track. But by allowing the criticisms to hang out there in the wind he only feeds the beast, which as you point out maybe is what he wants.

I'm more worried about other people, not me. Since Dan has been back, I make sure to scan more pages, and bump relevant threads that are crushed by the weight and quantity of his posts.

That's a bingo!
Dan only responds to those who cheer him on. And then he takes the positive comments as REASONING to post more threads. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE BAN, and led to his bannage. And I was cheering him on then.
He doesn't listen or comment to criticism at all. Which could support the algorithm concept.
