Kshmir is that song that that old band ripped off from Puff Daddy right?

If for no other reason than, no Scott Summers = no Nathan Summers and we need Cable on screen in a big way.

This so that we can get this.

Recast
There are only two actresses that can pull off being the lead or near lead in a superhero movie and have me buy it. One was already in a superhero movie this year and the other is already in this movie.
Wolverine is the most interesting and easy to relate character for non comic readers. Jackman has been awesome in him. Even then, Erik and Charles were the main catalysts for 4 of the 5 X-Men movies to date. Wolverine was the audience surrogate in the first 3 movies and was in First Class for 10 seconds.
This comic book reader bitching and moaning about Wolverine being the focal point of these movies is not only factual inaccurate, but pretty sad.

It's not a ripoff. It is Kashmir.

presumably, but I put nothing past Singer. Cable might end up being a clone of Havok

That's only because:

Jackman has been awesome as him.
But overall there are at least a dozen other characters better suited to play role of the audience. It actually weakens Wolverine as a character significantly to have him be the anchor.
And I think it's held the movies back a bit. Success can sometimes limit options.

Agree, and while I like the characters, focusing on old fogies has been a problem. Part of the issue with DOFP is that First Class corrected that mistake, and now we're going back on it again.

Reducing the argument to "bitching and moaning about Wolverine" is also factually inaccurate, at least for me. It's not Jackman's character, but it's everything that's had to be created around him. The loss of Cyclops - It wasn't ONLY about Cyclops as a character, but the loss of a foil for Wolverine. The whole Jean thing, which never really manifests well enough, etc. It's the reducing of awesome X-Men like Iceman, Rogue and Beast to mere afterthoughts. They've made ALL characters bounce off of Wolverine, and it gets kind of old.
I think Wolverine is the primary piece Singer got RIGHT, not wrong, but the effects of that hurt everything else.

It's definitely Kashmir, or a version of it.

Out of curiosity, what is your favorite xmen movie to date? If you say first class, then you should see my point.

I think it's the same characters that we have seen in the previous movies, but a different timeline.
Like a parallel universe. Marvel did that constantly, and has dozens of noted universes.

Jackman and Fassbender are the best things that they have and they should be the centerpiece of each movie.
But I wish they had a decent Cyclops. The pussy character they created in the previous movies is a poor substitute for the team leader from the original series.

I am hoping that trailers are Wolverine-centric as a marketing ploy to get butts in seats, and that the movie will focus more on the First Class cast.
They were such a fantastic mix, and it will be a shame if they are wasted in this film.

Every time I watch First Class, I can't get over how awesome Kevin Bacon was as Shaw. I know he's not going to factor into any other movies (probably), but man he owned that role.

I actually do see the point of Wolverine being limited as the center of the film.
But what's done is done regarding that.
I think I would like to see the following things in an X-Men movie:
1. Less is more. Fewer mutants with more screen time to explore them beyond their powers.
2. Let Wolverine be like he was originally written: the team doesn't know THAT much about his background, and he's kind of a loner. They know he could go unhinged at any moment. Let the audience see Wolverine like the team sees him... jumping in when you least expect it, and usually overreacting to the situation whether it's violent or not. Wolverine's a scary dude for the team, too. Let him be the thing you wonder about.
3. Let the team in the movie fight like a team, with their powers interacting and complementing each other, like they do in the comic books. The X-Men are a team.

Yes and no. I get this, but part of the charm of the X-Men is the variety. The better idea would be two movie strands tied into one longer arc. Either X-Men and X-Force or X-Men and X-Factor. And I would be liberal with the team makeups honestly. There are some characters that would just never make sense. *coughCablecough*. I mean I like Cable, but he would never fly in the films.
The best mix of Heroes:
X-Men:
Cyclops
Emma Frost
Beast
Wolverine
Iceman
Rogue
X-Factor (or Uncanny X-Men or whatever):
Storm
Angel
Kitty Pryde
Colossus
Nightcrawler
Havok
Do a mini-Schism arc and follow the downfall of Cyclops. Have some peripheral characters appear as well: Gambit, Cannonball, Dazzler, Magik, etc.

Agreed.

Agreed. The big fight at the end of Last Stand, while it missed some major moments, was the best part of that film. That's what people had been waiting on.

In related news...how would you like Tatum as Gambit?
LINK
quote:
In an interview at the MTV Movie Awards, where the actor received a Trailblazer Award (given to young up-and-comers whose success has inspired others), Tatum revealed that he’s met with "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donner about taking on the role of the fan-favorite mutant Gambit in the next film. While nothing is confirmed just yet, Tatum confessed that he’d be totally on board to play the character.
“If the stars align I would play it. I’m already working on the accent,” he joked.
Earlier in the interview he revealed that, because of his Southern background, he's always felt a connection with the character Gambit. He also thinks Gambit's moral ambiguity sets him apart from the rest of the X-Men. “He’s a thief, he’s not even, like, a hero," Tatum said. "He’s walking the line of gray"
