Thanks for the bump brother. This is going to be an interesting read.

That said, I'm only on page 10 of reading this thread and kudos to bb3 and the posters here. I'm a Lost fan and reading a replay of a virgin binge watch is epic. Great stuff. I rewatched Lost at least 2x since this thread and now I want to watch again.

I just finished a 3rd rewatch, with my kids watching for the first time. They all loved it, and it was a joy to share with them.

Helluva bump. I watched it from the beginning and is one of my favorite shows of all time. I often compare it to Fringe. Lost had more Highs and Lows while I think Fringe was more consistent and a better ending. I was just so disappointed with the Lost finale. Season 1 of Lost is absolutely fantastic and the cliffhangers were amazing plus I'll never forget the phone call between Dez and Penney.

I just started a Fringe rewatch. It’s even better than I remember.
Personally I loved the LOST finale and thought it was nearly perfect.

I think Fringe had the best finale of all time, especially the final scene with Peter opening the letter.

I did enjoy making this Crackpot theory on what happened after LOST:
OK, we have a good idea how the world reacted to the Oceanic Six. My question isn't about that, but it's more how the world's reaction would be once Ajira Flight 316 disappeared with the members of the Oceanic Six on board. It would go down as the greatest conspiracy theory of all time instantly, and then kick into overdrive 2 weeks later when Ajira Flight 316 returns to the mainland with only 2 people from the original flight, 2 people from the original 815 flight, and then 2 people no one has any idea about. It would be on par or higher than the OJ Simpson case (which it's implied Kate's initial trial was that big anyway). So let's first dissect it by flights
815
1) Jack- First off Jack was partaking in some highly suspicious behavior before 316. He was taking repeated flights across the ocean on Oceanic's dime. Jack then eventually tries to kill himself, which leads to a car crash of a person he saves and takes credit for (this is later refuted by the press at large). Then Jack goes to a funeral where the body is stolen that very night, and it is then brought to light that he checked a coffin onto the Ajira flight, and it's actually the second coffin he checked after the Oceanic Flight. Jack does not return, but is largely agreed upon to be a major mastermind behind the Oceanic Conspiracy.
2) Kate- More on her in the 316 section, since she was the only one to return.
3) Hurley- Next to Kate, Hurley would be the most highly evaluated member of the Oceanic 6 when it comes to the conspiracy. He's the only one people think may have had a conscience throughout this conspiracy. Hurley's past mental state would be highly evaluated, and especially if he had any contact with Jack prior to Oceanic 815, due to them living in the same city and a doctor/patient conspiracy. Hurley's financial situation will be important in this, with many people thinking Jack, Sayid, or someone higher than themselves extorted him for the cash they needed. On top of all this, Hurley bought out all the remaining tickets on Ajira 316 to make sure no one else boarded, which confirms to many they knew what was going on, and Hurley is the only member of that flight with any moral fiber. People all agree he was mentally unstable and exploited by others.
4) Sayid- Sayid will be looked at as the most monstrous of the Oceanic Six. Conspiracy theories will be abound that he hijacked both flights (at least until Ajira 316 returns) and he was the personal enforcer for the conspiracy. It will go so far as to claim he murdered Nadia herself and most the passengers that didn't return. Iliana's relation to him will be heavily analyzed, but most investigators will agree that Sayid murdered the people Hurley was blamed for killing. Sayid's legacy will only be that of a monster
5) Sun- Sun will be one of the more perplexing of the Oceanic Six, and will always be a thorn in the side for her father. Yes, Sun's father is rich, but through massive audits, they have to conclude that Sun's father had nothing to do with the Oceanic Conspiracy. Unfortunately for him though, they do find out he's a violent mobster and spends the rest of his life in prison. What Jin is up to in the conspiracy is a huge mystery since they are also able to confirm that Ji Yeon is Jin's child. The fact that Sun kept very distant from the rest of the Oceanic Six is also a source of conflict. There are mostly dead ends in investigations that come to Sun and Jin, making it frustrating for the world at large.
6) Aaron- just a baby of Claire and Kate. Although pivotal, he has little to do with the investigation besides DNA tests.
316
1) Sawyer- Sawyer returning would bring mass scrutiny. The fact that he's a convicted conman works against him, but also his former girlfriend has a close relationship with Kate, both before and after 815 crashed. Sawyer would be brought in for intense questioning in all this for his relationship to Kate and the only sane person to return for 815 through 316. The Feds aren't able to prove anything though, and Sawyer goes on to write stories of adventures on the Island.
2) Claire- the government doesn't really prosecute or go after Claire, aside from trying to have her tell them that Kate stole Aaron. It's largely seen as an international tragedy how Claire turned out, and it would make people more blood thirsty to get Kate.
3) Lapidus- Lapidus' background is going to make people shite their pants since he was originally supposed to be the pilot to Oceanic 815 and was dear friends with the pilot of 815. Then he flies the second flight and flies it back. He will be a very popular person in the conspiracy, although most won't have a clue on how to fit him into it.
4) Miles- The fact that he was there will perplex people. Can't really know what would happen to him.
5) Richard- Richard was much older than everyone. I think he'd have some sources to disappear though.
6) Kate- the final member and would eventually become the most famous person on the planet. Her first trial was as big as OJ Simpson's, but her second trial would be even larger to where everyone in the world from India to Chile would be obsessed with it. The others (unless they're able to dig up some old stuff of Sawyer's) won't be put on trial, but Kate will be simply for violating her parole and they will use this to bring other charges forward, like mass murder, kidnapping, and just about anything in between. Her conviction would in the least lead to Sawyer being convicted as well for a few crimes. Claire doesn't testify against her, but it's kind of moot since she's now certifiably insane. In the end, they can't conclusively prove anything against her besides violating her parole, so she gets 15 years in prison for that. Hurley then picks her up after jail and takes her to the Island, the only place she can remotely be at peace, where she eventually dies.

Lost is my favorite show. Actually Lost is #1a and Breaking Bad is #1b, but they never fluctuate - Breaking Bad is just too good for a #2 designation.
Not sure if any of this has been posted since I haven’t read the entire thread, but here are some links that help clarify things...

I hated Kate more than Skylar White

Kate is definitely the worst. Even evangeline Lilly says so. She causes so many problems through her selfishness, and is so ludicrously self righteous.

Evangeline Lilly in real life is actually cool as shite.
And Kate’s episodes are almost always the same. Kate needs something out of Jack or Sawyer, when she doesn’t get it she goes to the other one, and then she ends up crying about one of them in the end. To be fair Kate is one of the few characters that improves as time goes on. Once she has an actual purpose save for running in the later seasons, it improves her character.

years later I still want a Ben/Hurley spinoff and the actors are still able to do it. It needs to happen.
I want to know how long they ran the island for, over/under set at 2k years

Just read the entire thread and I feel like I just rewatched the whole series in the time it took to read 36 pages. Lol.
Wife and I just watched maybe two months ago. I had watched maybe 60% of it live. At the time I was in high school, got a job and always ended up working the nights it came on. No DVR. 14-15 years later got the wife to watch all the way through with me.
Probably the most addicting show I’ve ever watched. Most characters in a show I’ve ever been actually invested in. Favorites: Sawyer, Jack, Locke, Desmond. Honorable mention: Jin & Mr. Echo (great character but short lived).quite frankly Hurley’s character got on my nerves several times.
My major issue with the finally is it didn’t tie up ALL of the mysteries. Why was Walt special? Seemed for a while there it was all in Hurley’s mind, particularly when we see Libby in the mental hospital so this added to some of the confusion for a while. How did the mother have seemingly magical ability that created the true origin of the story with the battle of good vs bad?
Top 5 show for sure. I liked the finally aside from Siyads involvement and lack of explanation for ALL mysteries. In the moment it made them feel meaningless know they consumed so much time in your mind as you watched.
ETA: why could Claire’s child (later known as Aaron) not be raised by another? This never mattered in the end.

Kate and Claire end up raising Aaron together.
Sawyer and miles are buddies after the island.
You can tell because of how they all are in the sideways world.

I assumed they probably all went to jail after they got back. Idk what for but something. No way they were going to adequately explain any of that mess.
