I would hope it’s carbon monoxide and they wouldn’t take the dog out with them
The only peace I have is he was 95 so at least this wasn’t a tragic death when he was in his prime. He lived a great life

Gene Hackman was one of my favorites….what a strange way to go.

It happens way more than you think. There was a famous story in the next town over there was a rich old couple that both got stuck in their in home elevator and died.
I do think it’s carbon monoxide poisoning but it’s incredibly important especially as you get older to make sure your being social and have at least some people coming by who may be able to help spot some of these dangers

This is a complete side note but an Asian living in New Mexico seems to be a foreign concept to me

Yeah I think there might have been some type of foul play here.
But one possibility is that he was immobile/senile and completely dependent on her for care. Then she died of natural causes and Gene and the dog were simply left to slowly die of neglect over the ensuing weeks. That's awful but I'm sure it happens.
It was pretty well known that he lived in seclusion and was rarely seen in public. Plus being a celebrity I'm sure they had privacy fences and various other defenses against gawking. So the normal red flags that might trigger neighbors and concerned friends probably didn't exist.

now THIS is a loss to the entertainment industry. Incredible talent.
had to be a gas leak (CO, Radon). Who would kill their own dog during a suicide?

That's a shame. I was going to make espresso.

Such a great actor. One of my all time favorites. Not sure he ever gave a bad preformance.

One of my favorite roles he was in that no one ever talks about is Scarecrow. I caught it on TCM a long time ago.. It was interesting seeing him and Al Pacino work together.

There have been a ton of great actors, but it would be difficult for me to leave him off an actor's Mt. Rushmore.

Hoosiers, Superman, The Firm, Runaway Jury, The Replacements, etc. I pretty much enjoyed every role he ever played..

Those are great, but the fact that you don't mention The French Connection, Unforgiven, The Conversation, or Mississippi Burning tell me we either have very different tastes or you have some fantastic Hackman movies to watch this weekend.
He was also incredible in a supporting role in Bonnie and Clyde.

No offense but I loved his role in the opening scene of "Mississippi Burning"...
"Never never never I say....the Ku Klux Klan here is hear to stay"
Nice catchy rhyme to it.

RIP Mr Hackman.
He was one of the GOATS. So many roles in so many great movies.
Great actor on all levels.
I remember after watching Unforgiven, I thought "was Clint the lead actor or Gene?"
