I really think this season may have been better off having Marshall make a sandwich run for a really long time and just not showing him. His travel scenes are just brutal. The whole thing with Ted's step-dad was not funny in the least bit.

Last night just wasn't funny. It had a great opportunity to be funny with Marshall visiting Ted's home in Cleveland but really missed.

the timeline doesnt make sense.
Best I can gather, the mother was already pregnant when he proposed if it really took two years. Because in the Star Wars trilogy episode last year they flashed forward to 2015 when he had a kid.

If Ted meets her at this wedding, how does it take him 2 years to propose?

I specifically remember him saying 2 years later in the last episode

He did say that.

I think it's no coincidence that the only solidly funny episode this season was the one with marshpillow when they manufacutred a way for the guys to have a lot of screen time together.

It was fricking brutal. The Lily/drink joke is also getting old. Its like the writers are going "Hey, its another running joke!"
As for the proposal, if Ted really met the woman of his dreams, he wouldn't wait two years to propose. That doesn't fit with his character at all.

I agree with this, but I still enjoyed the episode
For those complaining about filler, we got to see Ted propose and Robin and Barney's mom overcome their differences
Not a bad episode imo. Ted's step dad is the only thing that kept it from being great

Just watched it and I thought it was pretty good.
I did think the stepdad thing was stupid and I'm so tired of the Lily drink thing (I was when they first started it in the season premiere). But I thought it was still a solid episode, and we finally know that Barney has known about Robin and the kid thing for a long time now. I wonder how wildcat will take that.

How long ago is this episode supposed to be taking place?

I can already tell this board is going to hate this episode
Posted on 11/11/13 at 7:11 pm to TreyAnastasio
Everything with Barney so far is pretty damn funny
Posted on 11/11/13 at 7:16 pm to Cap Crunch
The board hates when they go back to the Ted-Robin stuff
Posted on 11/11/13 at 7:16 pm to Cap Crunch
How did I not see that coming
Posted on 11/11/13 at 7:18 pm to TreyAnastasio
Yeah I should have figured that was her too

I really liked this episode. May not have moved the story but it was pretty funny and had some decent backstory.
