I think I noticed psych on prime as well which similar to chuck is a show I've heard of and know is well liked but don't know much about that I wanted to watch at some point. If you've seen both which would you prefer?
Both...watch both.
Seriously, they are both awesome shows. Personally I have rewatched Chuck more times than Psych, but I've rewatched both multiple times. Chuck is probably the "safer" watch since there might be some people that may not like the type of humor in Psych (but those people also probably suck at life...probably).

This thread got me to start chuck and so far I'm 5 episodes in and really digging it! It kinda has a Burn Notice vibe but even more laid back, less drama-y and more comedy. I've intentionally avoided reading much about the show so I don't even know how many seasons there are or antyhign else other than what I've seen in the first 5 episodes. I'm hooked though and can't wait to keep watching!

I know this thread is old but I'm hooked. I'm currently about 5 eps into season 2. Still haven't looked at anything regarding the show so as not to come across any spoilers, I know nothing besides waht I've already watched thus far. I really love Casey, at first I didn't care for him but he cracks me up especially all the different disguises and jobs he has on these missions. Not a fan of bryce larkin although I imagine we're not done with his story yet.

Chuck is such a fun show.
Never heard of Psych until this thread. Can’t wait to start it.

Just finished season 2. I love the dynamic of the first 2 seasons but it feels like a massive shift is on the way, I have no idea what to expect but all shows have to change I guess, they couldn't just keep the same basic story going the entire show. I'll start into season 3 tongiht.

Well, it really picks up after the 2nd episode of season three, after they kill Chuck off and accidentally upload parts of the intersect into each of Jeffster's brains.

You still got some good seasons left.
Season 5 is where is goes a bit wonkey, but still better than several final seasons of many other shows.
Not sure network TV will ever make a show like Chuck again, enjoy it.
I do have a man crush on Casey

I'm just gonna keep posting in here through my journey even though no one cares.
**SPOILERS below from S3E1***
I was only able to watch episode 1 of season 3 yesterday, and it really really pissed me off. First off, I actually do like that the old gang is back at the Buy More, which after season 2 I assumed was old news as everyone would grow up and move on. So I did enjoy that. We also see chuck doing more cool stuff which the viewer obviously likes. But there was one part that made me utterly disgusted. The episode starts out 6 months in the future and we see chuck in a training led by the general, so chuck is obvoiusly "with" the govt now officially. The S2 finale him and sarah had made plans to ditch this govt life and run away and live together as free people and meet at the train station to start their lives together. So now in S3 episode 1 we see that encounter. Sarah is at the train station waiting for chuck and chuck arrives, this is it! And what happens? Chuck says "actually I can't go, sorry, I'm going to be a spy for real now" ummmmmmm excuse me fricking WHAT!? This does at total 180 and completely goes against EVERYTHING we've seen from chuck so far in the show. All chuck has ever wanted are 1)have the intersect out of his head 2)to be with sarah who he very clearly loves. So now he has his chance to run away, start a new, carry out the dream he's waited so very long for. And instead he ditches it to go work for the governemnt. bullshite! That is not what chuck bartowski would do. Also, and this is a very small gripe, how the frick would the intersect 2.0 be able ot make chuck play a mariachi guitar? I know his dad/orion built the new intersect and made it specifically for chuck but I mean why would that ever be programmed into it?

Same reason it can teach him karate or how to speak Russian or do the Tango. The intersect has basically everything in it. The intersect is the perfect plot device to provide whatever the protagonist needs to get him out of a jam.
As for Chuck wanting to remain a spy, remember that he was a college dropout. He didn’t love working at the buymore. He was stuck in a dead end job while everyone chastised him for wasting his potential.
Being a spy finally gave him a purpose. Once he learned that he could be an asset rather than a liability, he finally had found his calling. He started seeing the Intersect as a blessing rather than a curse.

In one of the next couple of episodes (Can't remember if it's episode 3.2 or 3.3) he explains to Sarah why he did it, and it at least gives a little more insight as to what his reasoning was.

I didn't really consider this and it makes perfect sense, although in the moment it still just felt wrong.

You have to also understand the tenuous history of the show. Every season finale was thought to be a series finale as NBC kept trying to cancel it only for fans to lobby successfully to keep it going. Thus, each season was ended without a clear plan for the following season because they didn’t think they’d get one.

Chuck was the matador of Network TV shows. Just when you think the bull has it, the show managed to step away and survive yet again.
Without going into details I believe there is one season of Chuck where they had no less than three this is the finale episodes planned only to once again survive.
It is such a fun watch and the cast is impeccable.
And yes, there is a strong attempt to try and keep the "will they, won't they" between Chuck and Sarah going as long as they can. Which isn't bad because that is one of the driving forces of the show.
Even with folks having gone on to other projects (and fairly big ones) by all accounts everyone involved with the show would dearly love to make another season.
