A version of this was on about 10-15 years ago

Doesn’t seem like something you could pull off twice

The first season was great. They tried a second season and the contestant caught on.

The original finale is incredible

The first season of the show was a masterclass in funny reality television. I did not like the second season as much and the third season was pretty good but relied too much on the wacky Lorenzo Lamas shite. I’m very much looking forward to this though, especially since we are in an age where you can kind of push the boundaries on cable.

Season 1 was incredible, and not something that can be repeated, imo. They've tried and it just hasn't been as good. The original Joe Schmo was such a likable guy. I can't find any sources other than anecdotes, but the first guy apparently had a tough time with life for a bit after the show.

Although they took him to a different direction, the jury duty show with James Marsden was pretty great too.

Apparently he was so likeable by everyone that the cast started having real conflict of conscience with continuing to trick him.

There were two contestants for the second season. One of them caught on and eventually became part of the act, but the other never did.

I love how they tried to make it seem like he was a great guy and they all loved him to soften the blow of being a televised moron.
Was Kristen Wig the chick who he hurt when they were wearing the fat suits?
I liked season 2. Not nearly as much as season 1 but the chick figuring it out was a nice wrinkle.
