What the hell did you expect? It's a Taylor Sheridan show. They all evolve into a soap to a degree. Watch a documentary on the oil industry if that's what you want.
As for the latest episode...It's going to be a while before I'll be able to eat an Omelette.

It's unwatchable. I shut it off after about 4 minutes. Billy Bob Thornton started talking about fuc%ing breakfast foods because he had a rager, and his bimbo wife was screaming at him to not "fu%k her omelet".

This latest episode was pure fluff, which wouldn't necessarily be a horrible thing back when series had 30 or so episodes a season. But with only 10 it's 10 percent of the season. Kinda disappointing to say the least

They casted this shite out 10 miles. That's the worst writing I've seen in a Sheridan flick. If they don't kill him, that entire dialog was pointless.

Pretty much sums it up. The show has its brief moments but they're becoming more and more seldom. It's a shame because it has tons of potential, but usually 50% of the show or more is wasted.

I'm watching Downton Abbey at the same time. The writing is so tight, every scene moves the pilot forward, and there are actual plots.
