The show started off great. Even if the plot was a little iffy, BBT was absolute on fire those first few episodes.

BBT preaching about OSHA was laughable considering all of the ‘incidents’ that have happened this season.
A well blowing up, but not resulting in any employee fatalities or injuries wouldn't automatically trigger an OSHA inspection. They could use the "imminent danger" clause...but that isn't automatic. But, when an oil well blows up with explosives, I do believe Homeland Security would get involved.
OSHA would have been all over the fatalities from the flash that killed Cooper's co-workers the pipe incident fatality in episode 5.

This show is the total definition of guilty pleasure. But I like it.
There’s a lot they get right about Texas. Demi nails the rich North Texas housewife. The accents are on point.
Yes, there are semi-wealthy 17 year olds with morally loose hot mothers all over the place.
Rebecca had a nice arc, IMO. She goes from hot shot bitchy lawyer to Tommy’s employee after criticizing him and looking down on him with her hypocritical moral superiority. It was satisfying to watch both Tommy and Cooper outplay her this season. Sheridan does a great job of dunking on the arrogance of people from the coastal Left.
The ringtone for Tommy’s wife makes me jump every time and then I laugh.
The actors on this show know what it is: a throwback to 80s prime time soap operas and they are lapping it up. They are having a great time with the material and it shows.
Looking forward to Season 2.

every time it rings, Tommy jumps like the boogeyman just jumped out of the shadows.

Still the best line of the season: “AHHH! She fricked me!”

You get it. This is the entire premise of most of Sheridan's work. He's not out to create MadMen level of art, just some enjoyable tv to make you forget work is tomorrow. There are some serious plot gaps but you're having so much fun watching BBT basically play himself that you forget.

He is known for this and does not play to the hollywood elite thing. He makes too much money for Paramount to be ignored.

Watched the finale last night.
So we have to move quickly on the farm-out offer because if Monty dies then all transactions are on hold while his estate is in probate for at least a year.
Monty dies that night.
So now what?

Love how he is dismantling the “Girl Boss” right in front of our eyes.
This show is not going to have a Beth Dutton. If taking down Rebecca a couple of pegs is a mea culpa for losing control of Beth, I’ll take it.

I get all that but my god are some of these storylines boring and have no direction.
The old folks home stuff, QB and daughter, his son and the widow, etc. over the past few episodes just provide nothing

assuming he's dead. Could be another cliff hanger just like last episode and the family was just getting to see him. The monitor behind him appeared to be flat lined though.
The female attorney doesn't surprise me much. Fits the stereotype well. Tries to cold hearted and ruthless but still a liberal white woman who doesn't like Big Oil.
Like someone said above, this show is 100% a guilty pleasure, and should be treated as such. Yes, OSHA would have been all over MTex arse with all this crap going on, but just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Also enjoyed the Andy Garcia cameo. Looking forward to that relationship next season.

Rebecca is a terrible character to try to keep around. She was good for a few episodes. Would have been better if they killed her off somehow.
Her playing the crusty and pretentious bitch only to have BBT smack her around with logic and MAGA baw energy is my favorite part.

Anyone else get that uneasy feeling when the kid went to help with the groceries he was going to get a Menace II Society style drive by present?

I guess I’m just surprised hearing so many people mentioning it during Christmas. You don’t have to be a snob to say this show is atrocious outside of BBT
I wouldn't say atrocious but yeah last night was pretty bad for a finale.
