When the park opened, was Hammond planning on doing this presentation all day every day for 365 days of the year? That had to get old fast.

Book Muldoon also has rocket launchers
I remember playing the JP game on Sega as a kid and it had aviary, river and ship levels along with flame throwers and rocket launchers. I wondered where the frick all that came from because none of that was in the movie....then I read the book in high school and it all made sense

That’s the dumbest moment in the Jurassic Park franchise.

Nah, in the original 3 it's this moment.

In the World movies it's this Scooby Doo shite

Indominus Rex
Speaking of the Indominus... why the hell would they let Wu put in cuttlefish DNA to let it camouflage when the whole point of its existence was to wow the spectators? Seems like a huge waste of money if you can’t see it

Or putting in a chip that could track it?

Did they even know Wu put cuttlefish DNA in it? Wu was working with that baw that was trying to weaponize the dinosaurs for military usage. So could’ve just been part of their secret plot to sell for military usage.

I still don’t get the economic feasibility of the park in the first movie. That is as arseload of capital and time to end up with a park on a remote island off Costa Rica. Even if you have the resources to stick enough people on the island to turn a profit, you’re also looking at Manning entire power, waste water, potable water systems, etc...Even Disney World can leverage Orlando’s infrastructure.

I also question the business sense of Dr. Hammond In other ways. .

Consider that a T-Rex takes about 20 years to grow to full size. This damn project started in the 60’s at least. At no point in time did Dr. Hammond think to bring some small dinosaurs back to life, and then pitch that to a flock of investors to get the capital to build the full blown park in a desirable location. Preferable one where he wouldn’t have to staff power plant operators, desalinization units, pilots, ship handling crews, etc....

Didn’t Wu say the cuttlefish DNA was to help it grow faster or something? Think it was vaguely explained.

Honestly my biggest gripe with the whole series is there are so many people who are against the totally fricking awesome reality of bringing dinosaurs back to life

Even if that’s true, I want to know why
1. They were unaware of that ability until it was fully grown
2. Why they didn’t just scrap the asset when they realized it wouldn’t show itself to human viewers
Unless the CEO was in on the plot. Jurassic World is a fun movie, but the plot is pretty dumb. As a JP fan it sucks that we only have 1 great movie

Maybe Newman's plan all along was to let the dinosaurs escape and kill everyone.

He just underestimated everything like he seemed to always do

This wasn't a calling card to gloat about his crime.

They were trying to access his workstation. The pop up was part of his security and would pop up in the event of an attempt at unauthorized access.

In the book it makes it pretty clear that main focus of all of this is the genetic engineering overall. Not just being able to create dinosaurs. Bio warfare, farming, people. All of it was free game. I think Hammond had good intentions but was just being taken advantage of. The park was just a front to keep him happy so they could use his money to go absolutely nuts doing any and all kinds of experiments.

In the book the island was much more built out. All the aviary areas from JP 3 were in the book. I assume that the part of what we saw was going to be the initial section of the hotel that would have eventually been built out further to accommodate more guests. Remember, the lawyer Gennaro was there to sign off on the proof of concept. They wouldn't have a reason to fully build the hotel just yet.

Also in the novel, the hotel/resort was already built and part of the action takes place there.

Ludlow, John Hammond’s nephew from The Lost World, is Cowboy from Full Metal Jacket.

I was astounded to learn he was from Missouri and not actually British.

I went down this little rabbit hole the other day when watching Manhunt: Deadly Games.

I knew that I recognized the ATF bomb guy from somewhere and was shocked to find out it was this same guy. He definitely sounds like he could be from Missouri with the way he talked in that show.
