I dont get it - we seem to have a good few weeks and everyone that posts seems to be somewhat knowledgeable - then BAM -dumbassery takes hold and we're back on the short bus

nobody ever said Jacob was bad. At least not me. I'm of the opinion that it is good vs. evil with Jacob vs. MIB.
You have to remember that for Jacob, everything in the middle is just progress. Also, stopping MIB from leaving the island entails pulling out all the stops against him. Jacob never tells the people he brings to the island what is right and what is wrong, but merely communicates through Richard what the island wants.

Episode 16 of Season 2. They have "Henry Gale" held hostage in the Swan hatch and MR. Eko came in to speak with him at the end. Sayid beat the living shite of Ben/Henry.

Eko is the man. He'll be in some other episodes you see, along with his brother. He'll be buddies with Locke too.

He is one of my favorites so far. I love his whole story and he is a great actor. Loved him as "Adibisi" in the HBO prison series a few years ago.
