Just getting everyone's opinion: for people who like Napoleon, do you also like Bottle Rocket? I do...

I hated it when it came out.

Me too. Don’t think I ever even watched it but the shirts and everyone talking about it bothered me greatly

he fact that you can't really pin down a timeframe for it helps add to that timelessness, I think. Is it set in the 80s, or are they just so far removed from "civilization" that technology and the like hasn't caught up with them yet?

It's a sweet spot to tell a story.

Yep. And the entire film was also a bunch of nobody actors so it truly just felt and feels so different, like all the characters are real even though is so ridiculous

Napolean Dynamite will live as a classic and a cultural relic for the era in my opinion.

The movie is set at when it came out. So 2004ish. Being behind the times is part of its charm but there really are but mostly just were places like that in America. These were relatively poor, rural, mostly white farming communities that were always the last to get the movies, music and fashion. Those were still the early days of the internet and smartphones and Amazon wasn’t yet what it is today. Many people are flocking to these places today.

Excellent catch. It's been a while since I've seen it all the way through, so I'd forgotten about the student ID.

That movie sucks arse.

And I have shite like Billy Madison, Super Troopers, Anchorman, etc. in my top tier list of dumb comedy movies that are just hilarious.

ND is cringe. Always has been.

South park did an episode in the 2000s with a man from 1998 frozen in ice.

The world is strange to him although its only a few years in the future.

They send him to des moines iowa or somewhere like that and he feels back at home since they are so behind the times.
