These four astronauts got special powers by the thing in space? Why didn't they all get the same power from it? Why is there such a weird assortment of powers when they all got exposed to the same thing?
They get blasted by cosmic rays in their first trip to space. Reed makes a miscalculation when building the ship, believing it will be able to withstand the cosmic rays but it doesn’t, and the four absorb every bit of it. Each of them get unique powers (because it was a comic book in 1961 during the height of the space race), however Ben Grimm (the Thing) is the only one who cannot turn his on and off. He comes back as a hideous monster with a heart of gold, and Reed feels tremendous guilt for what happened to his best friend. So he decides to embrace their new powers and they become maskless heroes and celebrities to help Ben feel like less of an outcast.
Fast forward a few years, Reed & Sue have two children and they both are born with powers. Their son Franklin, is an insanely OP omega level mutant with reality warping abilities he can barely control, while the younger child is a girl named Valeria, who is born with genius level intellect on the same level as Reed Richards and Doctor Doom.

The trailer makes it clear. This is Norrin Radd's origin story.
I don't see how you could say that just based off the trailer. It also can't be said that it isn't. So it's a coin flip at this point until either something gets leaked about it or it's confirmed when the movie drops.

Shalla Bal does not do what they showed in the trailer. This is Norrin Radd's origin story.

it is because it is what he wants to see - he latched onto something the trailer to bitch about, like he does about almost anything new that comes out, and will not look at anything objectively - he will be in shortly to refute you.

Yeah, I didn't expect my take to change minds(if they're already made up). As a 90's kid who dreamed of having these comics come to life on screen, I rarely complain for complaining sake. Some are great, some aren't, some stories are changed, some aren't. I lean into enjoying them rather than the opposite. To each their own I guess. I, personally, am very excited for this, Thunderbolts and Superman.

No, it's because what is shown is the trailer is done by Norrin Radd, not Shalla Bal. This is exactly the opposite of what I wanted to see.
They are using Norrin Radd's origin story. I'm not sure he will ever be in the MCU, and this trailer makes me think it is less likely he will be, but if they do bring him in they will not be able to give him his origin story. They're essentially ruining two characters, assuming there actually are Shalla Bal fans out there (doubtful).

I’m a huge Silver Surfer fan since reading these books as a kid. And I don’t love that they’re gender swapping here. I know it’s an established character but she was not the silver surfer other than on a few panels in an alternative future story. But, the trailer looks really good so I’m giving this a chance. If they can make a great FF film, even with a female surfer, then that will be acceptable to me.
As for Sue Storm being leader, technically no she isn’t. But she is in continuity for decades now one of the strongest female characters in the marvel universe. Making Sue Storm a powerful and influential member of the team is very in line with her portrayal in the comics.

I guess. Not sure how they ever introduce Norrin Radd if this is what they're doing. I was willing to accept it till this trailer. At the very least, they've diminished his potential eventual inclusion.

No problem with this. I hope that's how this goes. Given recent MCU history where females are the heroes of every film with a female superhero (even when they're supposed to be the villain), and her prominence in the trailer, I'm making an educated guess about where they're heading with this. I hope I'm wrong.

Not really; it was Norrin Radd's INTRODUCTION (FF# 48), not his ORIGIN (Silver Surfer #1, at least 2 years later).

Looks boring and stupid, and the Thing CGI is terrible.

This changes nothing I've said here, but okay.

I only perused the first page, but nobody bringing up the fact that Thing is pulling a container ship while he’s walking in the sea?
Given the fact that the draft of a container ship is like 10+ feet deep if not more, why can’t they just do their diligence on that shite? Unless Thing is dragging a container ship while it’s running aground but I highly doubt it

She's Shalla-Bal, love interest to the Silver Surfer, herald to Galactus. For people who actually understand the source material (like who made the trailer), it's very obvious. Norrin Radd will appear in present day MCU. One of the reasons Shalla-Bal becomes Galactus's herald is literally to find Radd. People just don't know the source material and freak out rather than trying to understand.
It’s a comic book movie.. I shouldn’t have to research “the source material”

The Silver Surfer is just unimpressive.
Also I'm sorry but I can't picture Pascal as Reed.
Each trailer gets worse.
fricking Herbie? Seriously?
I'm ready to call it another FF curse shite movie. Looks bland and uninteresting.
ETA started collecting FF comics in the mid 70s and always loved it more than any other Marvel comic.
Just disgusted they can't get it right.
I guess it will be fine for people with no context. I guess.

Trailer looks a lot better than I expected. Just doing my own speculation. But obviously this is not set in the MCU. Galactus is a huge huge threat. He's probably bigger than just what the F4 can handle on their own violation.
Somehow in Reid's quest for trying to figure out how to stop Galactus, he ends up opening the door to the multiverse, thus bringing the F4 into the MCU universe.

The multiverse storyline is played out. They can't kill that plot device fast enough.
Spoilers: reed defeats Galactus by researching the ultimate weapon that can destroy him and building a fake but it was a bluff and the Watcher intervened to prevent Galactus from reading his mind because he didn't want to see the Earth eaten alive.
He went on trial later on for doing that. He wasn't supposed to intervene.

Even if you did, you'd find very few comic book pages ever where Shella Bal is a "Silver Surfer." I'm talking less than 10 pages ever in alternate universe one offs. She doesn't even meet the typical Disney definition of "established" character they introduced when they bought Marvel.

I don't think so. These people like the male Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd.
