Would love to see him take on Lisbeth Salander's half brother(?) Ronald Niedermann from The Girl Who Played With Fire. He wasn't just big. He has congenital analgesia, which is congenital insensitivity to pain (CIP). It is one or more extraordinarily rare conditions in which a person cannot feel (and has never felt) physical pain.

The actor is Micke Spreitz.

Biggest problem I have with Roscoe is she kept telling Reacher not to worry about her because she can take care of herself only to end up with us watching her basically get her arse kicked by a 70 year old dude who needed a walking stick to get around
Small feisty girl has serious trouble fighting a 70 yr old man who weighs over 200 lbs, needs a gun to get a win: someone on this board doesn't like that.
Of course she says she can take care of herself- she's got a chip on her shoulder; and she's good with a gun (which does equalize things). Plus she's been a cop awhile- the uniform usually does make a difference. Most folks know you don't win against the cops, so you don't get constant resisting.

This was a pretty enjoyable action series. Think 80s action movies with a muscle bound, monosyllabic hero, mixed with a conspiracy thriller and spread out over 8 episodes.

Finally watched this. Didn’t see even the slightest bit of “the message.” Roscoes perky tits are hot as frick. Entire series was amazing I thought. I was skeptical about the retarded linebacker from blue valley state playing teacher but damn he was good. I rarely say this but good job Amazon prime.

I knew nothing about Jack Reacher; never saw the Tom Cruise movie. Just binged all the episodes in under 24 hours. I thought it was great and look forward to the following season.

Never read the books. I only saw the Tom Cruise movies which were entertaining, but, ultimately, forgettable (as I just re-watched the Jack Reacher trailer to remind me about the story & look for movie/series similarities).
I watched this series in one day. It was a lot of fun. Sure, there was some campiness & wooden lines, but the over-the-top action & the continuous clue-finding kept me clicking "Next Episode". Fun series.
I told my sister (who was looking for a show) about my binge. She later texted back, "I can't believe I watched this whole corny arse show, but now I want a second season." She got hooked, too.

My wife, who typically doesn't like dumb action shows like this, couldn't stop watching. In fact I missed a few episodes because I had things to do and she couldn't stop watching.

Enjoyed it.
I understand suspension of disbelief, but it’s just silly to have Reacher show up in a random, rural town just hours after his estranged brother is killed with such a flimsy, unrelated explanation.

More suspension of disbelief, Reacher racks up a crazy body count and the cops he's working with, who are all by the book types, just roll with it. They're reluctant about it, but seem way to accepting/ignoring of his methods.

Let's play, "Find the black person in the packed City Hall Meeting". Employee or concerned citizen.

BOOK Spoiler
Ok, I am reading the books for the first time. Just started yesterday. I am to the part in the jail with the first fight. I have to say so far except for Brooks, the TV show is pretty spot on.
Reacher does all the inductive reasoning in his head in the book but verbalizes it in the show. He draws many big conclusions from small details. Roscoe is describe as having a much heavier southern accent than in the show, but Roscoe is described as a very attractive, smart woman. Roscoe in the show are all that, but she acts more like a yankee in the show than a attractive southern belle.
So far the TV show tracks.

I’ve only read a dozen or so of the books but usually he’s dealing with corrupt government, cops, DA, etc. Usually he’s in kill or be killed situations.

Prob the most enjoyable and most easily binged series on Amazon prime for me. Would watch another 5 seasons of this shite

What's the deal with Reacher's vow of poverty basically? I can see him roaming around and being homeless, but why doesn't he have a car? Does that match the books?
I believe he said his military pension gets sent to Western Union for him to pick up. So he has access to money and being a Major I'm assuming it's decent amount.

Well yeah, sorta similar to James Bond, Reacher bangs a new chick damn near every book
And the villain has dozens of henchmen willing to fight to the death even as the protagonist is mowing them down with ease.

I am only to the point where he finds out its his brother in book one. But, there is no vow of poverty, he was a Major in the army and the cold war came to an end after this 13 year career. They gave him a big lump sum severance pay. He had never lived in America so, he was six months into a walkabout looking at the different sites in America.

Not exactly, Reacher's age in the book 35 would not allow him to reach the full 20 year retirement as described in the show. In both the book and the show he is a graduate of West Point. In the book Reacher is a bit of a penny pincher because he is trying to make his severance lump sum stretch.

why doesn't he have a car?
So far this is not answer in book 1.

Yeah it's comes just up to the line of being unwatchable for me but doesn't cross over. So it's fun entertainment. I'm pretty bad about turning off cheesy/unbelievable stuff.
I think this started stronger than it finished, it got pretty hokey toward the end. But I'll watch another season. I do think the books are easier to swallow, maybe because I read them when I was younger and maybe because the storylines seem more plausible in 1997. While not the norm then either, the concept of a small town taken over by a corporation and an evil benefactor strains belief less, I think. In 2022 it's decades removed any realistic recognition by most people.
Of course, that's an inherent tension between doing something pretty true to the book vs. matching the age it's released.
