Private content creators rejoice.

actors are not the ones who green light movies or determine the direction of the industry. That’s the people they are striking against. You’re rooting against your own interest here if you’re doing the whole “good!” Routine about this.
If the set caterers went on strike this board would rejoice and consider it karma for their making bad Star Wars sequels.

There are a number of actors in the industry who are also writers, producers, and directors. These actors have a lot of pull in Hollywood and can influence the direction studios take with their films.

The actors and writer's union are trying to get a bigger slice of this changing industry, and I don't know of anyone who thinks this will work for them. It's grasping at straws in an industry facing tighter margins and huge losses.
Exactly. You want Disney to pay you more? Their woke bullshite (thanks in large part to super libs like actors) is losing money in a big way. Recession comes and people will be even less likely to spend big at the theater and on streaming services. Horrible timing.

This reminds me of the NBA lockout in the late 90s. Players thought they were getting screwed in terms of % of revenue and the teams literally had to open the books and show many many of them were losing money.
The NBAPA has basically had no power since then

I’ve got years of backlog I can watch before touching anything that would drop in the next year.

OMG they couldn't make themselves more irrelevant for us. LOL I sure hope they strike.

Awesome, hope it happens but I doubt it does.

A handful maybe .1% but the vast majority of SAG are people you don’t know by name. The bit players that appear in a couple of episodes of a show.

That's because there is a 6-12 month lag on those things. Next summer will be where the strike is noticed.
Are we sure they haven't been on stike already for a few years now?
Sure seems like it.

you would think writers and actors have been on strike for decades
People say this like we haven't lived through the golden age of television.

I wouldn't have the first clue and I won't even bother guessing. However, the #1 film at the domestic box office last year was greenlit and produced by an actor (Tom Cruise) if that counts for something. He's also the main reason behind the success of the Mission: Impossible franchise - one of the more lucrative such franchises in the business today.
And one of the more popular TV series in America right now (Yellowstone) was co-created and executive produced by an actor (Kevin Costner).
