This thread inspired me to start a rewatch. Just finished one of my favorite episodes, “Come the Inquisitor”. If you know, you know, Jack.

I'm halfway through season 2, and damn this show is better than I remember.

Lately, my morning routine is wake up at 5am. Walk the dog. Make breakfast. Watch an episode of B5.

Watched Season 2 Episode 16 this morning, "In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum" and man was that episode good. Things are starting to crank up with the great enemy who's amassing its forces.

My current status:

Only one human Captain has ever survived battle with the Minbari fleet. He is behind me, you are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else.

You really should. Overlook the dated effects and sometimes ham acting and accept them for what they are, and take a deep dive into the storyline. It's very good.

I really enjoyed Farscape despite some less than satisfying episodes and story choices. Sometimes if the actors / writers really believe in their show, even during some rough patches, it still shows through as a quality effort.

The problem I had with Babylon 5, I suspect, was I was expecting it to be something it wasn't. Instead of just taking it in and enjoying what was offered.

The actor who played Sebastian (Jack), Wayne Alexander was also Lorien. He was sort of B5's Jeffrey Combs as he also played a Narn, a Drazi and a Drakh.

Bonus: He was Vern/Verndroid in Spaced Invaders (another IYKYK)

I started a rewatch as well, I am on the episode where Talia's storyline got replaced by Lyta. Crazy how that worked out they had to replace Lyta, but then Talia wanted more screentime and ended up ditching for another show so Lyta came back. Talia and Ivanava scissor party was a shame we didn't get fully. lol

Gkar and Lando were so good on this show.

I'd pay good money to see that.

I was too young to pick up on it when it aired, but it's quite noticeable now and was confirmed to be part of the plan. Surprises me for being part of the show back then.

I'm pacing it, still only midway through season 2. Just hid the President's doctor on the Vorlon ship.

That episode is honestly the first time the graphics really jumped out to me as dated (speaking of the ship), otherwise I'm pleasantly surprised at how well they've stood up. And I'm not sure how they'd pull off the Vorlon tech even today.

Like you said, G'Kar and Londo are fricking awesome. G'Kar rolling in a fuzzy bathrobe running the ladies.

Very few things don't ultimately pay off later.

Molari's sex life and what the additional appendages were supposed to do.

There was an episode where there was a ceremony with Delenn where one had to tell a deep secret. Ivanova's was that she thought she was in love with Talia. Which was very risqué for 90s television.

Random question... how big is Garibaldi's security force? We only see a couple folks, but remember- the station has a population of a quarter million, multiple species/factions present (so greater risk of unrest and violence), and it was technically under military jurisdiction. I think there were at least 3 standing fighter squadrons, so that's a pretty significant air presence. You'd have to think the security force would be maybe a couple thousand, because you NEED enough to keep control. It would be dumb and risky to leave it small, to where you have to call in extra help; if that happened it could have already fallen into hostile hands.

It is a good question. On the one hand, technology helps with surveillance and allows a small force to have an outsized effectiveness. Plus, the standing troops provide something of a backup if shite hits the fan and the ordinary security (and special response) units just don't have enough bodies.

It was a plot point when they started using Narn as supplements, so obviously there was a question of "how much security do we have/need".

Taking the U.S. for example, there are approximately 2 police officers per thousand citizens and extrapolating that gives you about 500 "security". Nothing in the show suggested they had more than, say, half that, even accounting for limitations in shooting a television show.

My best guess is that it was, maybe 250 or so, with the military force of the station being the backup.
