Finished Season 4 this morning
I feel like they ended the Shadow War too soon, but watching them fight against President Clark, and liberating Earth and Mars was fun.
I really enjoyed the final episode - going over a million years of history after the events of B5, all seen through news reports and found footage.
I know they started Season 4 believing the show was cancelled, and you can see that they had to rush and tie up storylines to put a bow on the series. Which makes me wonder how Season 5 will be since 4 ended so well. I've heard that Season 5 focuses more on Londo and G'Kar, which I hope is true.
ETA: The other day, the wife walked into the room while I was watching B5. Garibaldi was on the screen, and the wife asks "Who's the Dollar General Bruce Willis?" Which I thought was funny.

My wife thought he was a Will Riker knockoff 20 years ago.
True story. After Katrina we had been without power for 5 days. My wife was complaining. I said, if the electricity comes on in the next 5 minutes, (I was scooping the cat boxes), would you watch all the B5 series (I have them on disc), she said "I don't know....okay." I swear to all that is holy, the lights flickered...and power was restored. She was elated but there was NFW she was watching B5. I never pushed the issue. I still wanted to have sex.

It’s not great, bunch of side stories and plot lines that go nowhere because they didn’t expect to still be on air. Was a shame we didn’t get the longer story that was crammed up in season 4. The civil war plot was awesome.

It's true

I'm a few episodes into Season 5, and yeah its like every episode is more of "A Day in the Life of Babylon 5" instead of contributing to an overall story arc.
It was funny, though, hearing the Minbari bitch about how disgusting the Pak Mara are. The smell bad, they eat rotten meat. They're basically the Haitian immigrants of the Babylon 5 universe.

Finished the series finale tonight.
Season 5 definitely wasn’t as good as previous seasons. I didn't hate it, but the stakes were just so much lower.
The problems with the rogue psychics did nothing for me.
But man, that ending was great.

I knew you would be near the top.
I could never get into it. Hell, the opening credits look like a high school computer project. FROM THE 80s.
One of these days I will give it another try.

If they knew they were going to have Season 5: (spoiler-ish stuff below)
They wouldn't have needed to compress the big story arcs in Season 4 as much, giving Strazinski more screen time to be creative with.
The Telepath War arc could have been done better. More Bester is always good, and if more Bester meant less Byron it would've been a win-win. Also, were there any shadow telepaths left? Especially Bester's popsicle lover? (They had a book trilogy to wrap this story up later, but it would have been better on screen.)
Claudia Christian would probably have stayed, so Ivanova in charge of the station would have saved all the time used introducing Lochley. What role would Ivanova played with the telepaths?
A more involved telepath war story gives Garibaldi some more things to do and even more incentive to get them done than what we got.
More Garibaldi plots give some more time for his new blonde security person (formerly the leader of the Mars resistance). Maybe then Franklin could have finally kept a girlfriend longer than an episode, too.
Lyta kind of screws Garibaldi over by not letting him get after Bester sooner, which plays against her own interests against psy corps. But she's kind of dumb... she gets herself into a telepath sex cult when she could have just let Zach bring over some pizzas.
The Drakh and their keepers... with fewer filler eps and a bit more screen time, they could have done more with these guys and done a much better job connecting to the sequel series (Crusade).
The Londo / Vir arc was good with what we got, but if it had more threads to be better woven forward into other season 4/5 stories, it might have felt as strong as the earlier ties back to the first three seasons. Londo and his keeper have nothing to do with Byron and his shitty cult, both of which have nothing to do with Lochley and her druggie past while also having been married to Sheridan.
The Sheridan and Delenn stuff also feels somewhat disjointed and detached. Lenier is the most interesting aspect of it. Particularly considering the Morden cameo. Just how far does Lenier go, and what comes of it?
All that being said, the lower budgets for Season 5 episodes meant fewer extras per episode and less money for sets. Even with more time and a better story, the places we saw felt emptier because of that, so things may not have felt as alive as the earlier seasons. And you can't really do proper sequel movies because so many of the actors have died.
Still a favorite, definitely amazing what they were able to pull off considering budgets and size, but a lot of "what could have been" too.

Spoiler questions/observations:
What happened to Lennier after he left Sheridan to die? When they are toasting the dead in the final episode, Delenn toasts Lennier. But as far as I remember, those final two episodes do not mention his ultimate fate. I googled it, and its mentioned he's killed during the war with the psychics (which we never see). But I haven't found anything concrete on it.
Also, the mind control parasite that's hidden in the urn Londo gives Sheridan and Delenn. They are supposed to give it to their child when he turns 16. Its made out to be a big deal at the end of the second to last episode, but its never mentioned again. Unless it's brought up in that episode where Sheridan goes to the future where he and Delenn are imprisoned on Centari Prime, but I don't remember that it was.

Thats a story in the books
Here's the plot in a quick summary I found.
The keeper inside the urn establishes low level telepathic contact with David when he is born, and subtly influences him as he grows up. When he turns 16, he’s convinced to open the urn and allow the Keeper to attach to him. He then runs away and hands himself over as hostage to the Centauri. By that point, Centauri Prime is riddled with secret Drakh influences and many Centauri are anyway willingly but secretly building up a vicious xenophobic war machine to attack the Interstellar Alliance after the humiliation of reparations after losing the war (very much WW2 Nazi allegory). Vir is helped by Technomages to build up a resistance movement to oppose this
When David goes, Sheridan and Delenn chase after him and are also captured, as you saw in s3 War Without End future flashes. The Drakh will finally get their revenge on the ones who drove the Shadows away. Londo gets his Keeper drunk and manages to release David, Sheridan and Delenn and he begs GKar to kill him, but the Keeper awakens and they both die. Sheridan rallies the Alliance to come save the Centauri, and Vir and the Resistance expose the Drakh infiltration leading to the Drakh running away. Vir tricks the Drakh leader into exposing himself and Vir and Garibaldi kill him; the parasite he created dies and David Sheridan is free
