The rock breaking steel pipe has already been pointed out.
Also, I don't think the warden would have shot himself. I think he would have faced the charges, made bail, and skipped bail. It's not part of his character to be suicidal. He's more like a Saddam Hussein, not an Adolf Hitler.

Bro it was Cast Iron not steel. Cast Iron will break.

It would have required a lot less suspension of disbelief if there were some kind of maintenance cap to access than simply busting it open with a giant rock.

Dude Cast Iron is brittle, It will break once it has been subjected to stress cracks.
So by that account, did you want to see more indepth scenes of the sisters gang raping Andy? Because you didnt see the stressed out cast iron sewage pipe break? They didnt a pre-stress test or analysis before or after they laid the pipe?

Had to bust up the the cast iron pipe in my basement that goes out to the septic tank for a repair job.
I used a sledgehammer.
Should have used a big rock.

But what if he didn't remember it? Would he have just worked at the grocery store and stayed in that little town the rest of his life, and Andy would've just assumed that Red either never got out or didn't go find the letter he had left for him?
It really didnt matter to Andy if Red acted on it or not. Mexico was Andys dream.
Andy just gave Red the opportunity for hope after prison life. Which Brooks didnt have. If Red would have never gone searching, or forgot their talks, it wouldnt have changed Andys story
Plus, we never get to know whether Red eventually returned to the US, after helping Andy for a bit

I do t completely agree with that. Well, yes it was Andy’s dream, so having Red there was a bonus. But that was basically his best friend, so it definitely “mattered” to him if he showed up. But I get your point.

Why in the world would he show back up in the US? Especially after breaking his parole.

In his voiceover Red said violating his parole likely wouldnt "toss up any roadblocks for that, not for an old crook like me. Get busy living, or get busy dying"
He just didnt give an eff anymore

Zihuatanejo is a resort city on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, northwest of Acapulco. It’s known for its beaches, like the sweeping Playa La Ropa, which is backed by palm trees. Galleries and seafood restaurants line the city’s winding lanes. Offshore, the sea teems with marine life such as dolphins and sea turtles. Long, sandy Playa El Palmar is the main beach in the neighboring town of Ixtapa. - Google

He wouldn’t have needed to get a map in Maine. He would have been near the Texas border and got a map of Mexico. Don’t think he needed to get a map from Maine to the Texas border.

Regardless of whether he was the youngest, if he made VP, I’d say chances are good he was loaded.
Known many bankers in your life? Can't speak for the 1940s, but today banks hand out VP titles like candy on Halloween. Very rarely does the title also come with a commiserate salary. I believe that trend at least goes back to the 80s if not earlier.

Who is to say when Red said it out loud, he wasn't reading it from the letter? It was possibly written in the letter but Red was excited and said it out loud while reading it.

Is there any fiction set in Maine not written by Stephen King other than Murder She Wrote
There is a psychological thriller series I just watched on Netflix called Castle Rock. It wasn't written by King, but he was a producer. It was based on the town (Castle Rock) where Shawshank prison resides. Two seasons.
Sissy Spacek (from King's movie Carrie) is in it.

That used to bother me. But he was a rock expert and would’ve known what rocks would have been hard and strong enough to break that pipe. That’s how I always straightened that out.
I thought the pipe was old and rusted. That is how I justified it.

Fort Hancock, just south of El Paso.

I've been there. It is a cool place.

I never understood why Andy goes to the warden who he knows is a crook instead of writing the legislature or ACLU?
That and the fact that Andy is a rich banker who could afford the best lawyer money could buy in 1946, and his lawyer told him to take the stand.
You don’t let your client take the stand in that case. Instead you do your best poke holes in the evidence and convince the jury that’s there’s a reasonable doubt Andy didn’t do it.
It is based on a Stephen King story so of course it is going to have plot holes.

I don’t think you need to worry about spoilers for a movie that comes on 10 times a day
