This following the news on Wednesday that Disney was cutting 140 employees from its TV division.
*Oh right, this thread isn't exclusively about a TV show or Movie, so how can we even comment?

I have a feeling we'll be getting a similar announcement concerning the new movies that are supposed to be featuring Rey. The vast majority of the projects Kathleen Kennedy has announced since the release of The Last Jedi have failed to come to fruition.

If only they had focused on quality, instead of message...
I mean, just imagine how good Kenobi could have been. You had Ewen MacGregor and Jimmy Smits returning to their roles, you had Hayden Christensen doing his take on Anakin as Darth Vader, Indira Varma as the disallusioned Imperial officer. You had Flea doing a cameo as a bounty hunter (which surely indicated dude's love of Star Wars), brief appearances by Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon) and Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine).
Temuera Morrison as a homeless Clone Trooper on the streets.
On paper, everything was set up to be great. They chose to focus instead on the vengeful Inquisitor, which still could have been good (the conflict with Vader), but still was a huge mess. They wasted the performances of everyone listed.
It sucks, because even with all the messaging going on, you had the cast and resources to produce a GREAT show, if the show-runners were as competent as a high school drama club director.

Because she's a black woman. That's why it had to be about her. We all know this game.

But the point is, they could have chosen to do that, and it could still have been great- if they had taken the time and effort to do it correctly. You had the cast and background to build up a great environment, and if you had then introduced a (well-written and acted) new character into that, it could have taken hold- like Ahsoka integrated seamlessly when they did Clone Wars.
And ironically for them, if they had done this with skill and craft, not only would the show have been memorable, they'd have gotten their message out a lot more effectively.

What a shame. Was looking forward to hate watching that

Well, it requires a MALE lead after all.
They probably tried to "Obi-Wan" it, but couldnt find a way around without being labeled racists too

Says Director Justin Simien
Simien left this project over a year ago, when Glover and his brother took over writing duties. Has there been any indication from the Glovers or from Disney that the show is dead? If not, this is a weird thing for Deadline to publish.

When she was announced as a part of the cast, I asked how they would end up making her the hero and was absolutely obliterated for that take on this board.

Pretty sure this is old news, I believe it's now going to be a movie helmed by the Glovers, and not a TV show.

From your article...

Confusion has surfaced online surrounding Donald Glover’s upcoming Lando movie, which was originally announced to be a Disney+ series before being retooled into a film last year.
The confusion stems from some poor aggregating of a new interview with Simien talking about the scrapped series. However, Simien hasn’t been involved in the upcoming Lando project for well over a year at this point and was simply talking about the iteration that was already known to not be moving forward.

It will be out right after Blade.

I think thats just the Glover brothers hoping. Lucasfilm put everything on hold during the WGA strike and has made no announcements since the strike ended last Sept
As of June, these were the projects listed

That list will surely get Star Wars back on top

It's interesting that no one acknowledges the OP was fake news.

I will say it’s fake news. Is Donald Glover going to salvage the script? Is more member berries for the original trilogy going to help the IP overall?

I prefer we get the Community movie and last I read Glover was full in.
