It’s very evenhanded. Burns is a serious student of history.

Peter Coyote is a fine narrator.

As a matter of fact, women played a large part in the Tevolution in various ways. So did free Africans.

Read David McCullough and Jill Lepore…

Some people here will dismiss the whole doc as being woke and refuse to watch. These guys believe in the great man of history theories where great men did everything. And if you try to give anyone else credit for what went on, they feel like you are trying to diminish a great man.

History is a product of the environment. Ken Burns is doing a fantastic job of painting the picture of what was going on in America. This wasnt' just the great men, but everybody. The slaves, the women, the rabble in Boston, the people of England, everybody.

I find the doc inspiring as to how everyone at the time was a part of this movement in one way or another. I guess the most surprising part so far for me, was how much shite Sam Adams talked. He basically got everyone fired up with his pamphlets.

shite, I forgot about this and never set my DVR to record it. Hopefully it will replay and I can get them recorded to watch. I am pumped about this one, especially since I feel like I know so little about the AR.

The slightest reference to race or gender in any context on the board will trigger emotional cries of “woke” or “DEI”. It’s inevitable…

I'm sure there will be some KB self-flagellation about how the Indians were affected by the white man's violence, too.

Are you taking the position that the Indians were not affected by white people?

I'm not sure I'd attempt to learn from Burns.

As a conservative I’m smart enough to know the truth from the propaganda and I’ll enjoy the doc even if I don’t agree with the entire thing.

This is why I don't understand why conservatives can't suck it up and enjoy Hamilton for what it is.

It mentions the Iroquois, but it doesn’t suggest that our government was wholly built upon their model. Not even close…

God forbid any documentary reference such a minor part of America like slavery…

Burns’ documentaries are well-researched and evenhanded.
His “Civil War” was actually pretty sympathetic towards the South and its soldiers. Shelby Foote was allotted a lot of time…

Exactly

Burns shows his bias in every single one of his documentaries. He's a political hack and openly admits
his support of the DNC.

Why is that? I find his docs incredibly researched and mostly fair. Sure, he can lean into certain aspects a little too much here and there, but I don't find that a lot and it doesn't bother me as much either, especially if it's historically accurate for the most part.

Actually, I found it on the PBS website and am watching it, and for free. Not sure how long that will last, but it's definitely free right now.

LMAO!

Did you watch his documentary about MLB? He did ZERO research about Ty Cobb.He relied on Al Stumps completely discredited "biography" and didn't even bother with any type of accurate account of his life
What Burns got wrong about Ty Cobb
