I have heard so many great things about this show and I have tried to watch it at least 10 different times and I just can't get I to it

Watch with headphones/earbuds. Really adds to the street feel.

Damn, yall making me want to start another re-watch. I think it's been over a year.
My top 5-10 characters change every re-watch. However Bodie and Slim Charles are always in it.

That is part of what made the show so great. So many great characters.
I really loved Lance Reddick as Daniels.

The only downside to the show is that it makes me want to drink a lot of Jameson.
Me and Jame-o don't mix too well. St. Pats 2012 perhaps, buddy keeps feeding me shots around 10am. Brown out around 2pm. Struggle to find a taxi or subway home. No idea what time I got in.
I stay away from the stuff now.
It was probably more a volume issue than an ingredient issue if I'm honest with myself.

Tried it twice and turned it off.
I don’t get the hype for it

Put me in this camp- I think I got through 3-4 episodes and just couldn’t get into it. Maybe I’ll try again. It took me 8-9 episodes to get into Animal Kingdom, and I’m still not sure if I want to keep watching it or not.
Given the popularity, I would definitely recommend OP give it a chance, though.

honestly it’s the best show of all time but if someone doesn’t like it, why make a post or thread about you not liking it?

So you have multiple things going on, street level thugs, top level players, street level cops, and top level police and politicians, all at the same time, seeing everything from the dirtiest hood to board rooms. Later on, you see it through the eyes of the children growing up in it all. It’s real as frick.
The series is heralded for many things, one unexpected for me was the way it portrays street crime honestly without judgment, other than the harsh realities of it all. The game is the game and all. And police bureaucratic bullshite is front and center as well. Big time.
And when McNulty goes off the rails it’s freakin crazy.
Lots of big roles and personalities.
That’s all I got for now.

He was the black sheep. The permanent pariah. He asked no quarter of the bosses and none was given. He learned no lessons. He acknowledged no mistakes.

I watched it for a second time less than a year ago. With lots of real life actors in the show gone, especially Clay Davis and Ziggy recently, might need to give it a 3rd.

Yes just watch it if it gets slow, that is on purpose for character and context, it is amazing. Season 5 gets sorta outlandish but still The Sopranos and the Wire are about as perfect as a show can get (especially for their time) and everyone should watch both twice at a minimum.

Tried to start it three time and couldn't get through the fist episode.
I don't get the hype, but that's why we're human. We have different tastes and enjoy different.
I certainly don't hate on those who love it.
