Every time Kate talks down to Toby, I see red. She agreed to Toby taking the job in SF, but wants to whine about how hard things are for her. Toby nailed it on the head when he brought up that he had to be full time Dad while he was out of work. He was also right to bring up Jack’s genetics and the fact that Kate sends constant non-verbal signals that she thinks she’s a better parent than Toby. She’s inconsistent, too; it’s not ok for Toby to give Jack too much sugar, but she can give a heart wrenching speech about how she should let the kids eat whatever they want. I wish Toby had said, “That’s a good point, Kate. But you don’t make any of these decisions with me. You don’t include me at all.”
Rebecca gave them the solution: stop worrying about me and live your lives. On some level, she’s telling Kate that it’s ok to move. But, clearly, Kate’s not going to do that.
Kevin was a total arse for asking Toby to take off the hat.
The problem with the Pearson kids is they always choose their biological/adopted family over their spouses. All three are so self-centered. (Beth is a fricking saint for putting up with Randall, but she seems to have a better ability to navigate the family drama better.)

See, I saw that part differently. In that family, the hat is a huge part of their Thanksgiving traditions. That Toby was asked to wear it should be a huge honor. Toby is well aware of this. What isn't cool is accepting the Pilgrim Rick honors, THEN shitting on the tradition under your breath to your kid.
If he thought it was stupid, then don't wear the hat.

I see your point, but I wouldn't have asked him to remove the hat in front of everyone. Put another downer on the day in my mind. Kevin could have addressed that on the side. Of course, that would be less dramatic and the show is a drama. Not a realistic one as it goes on....

I think it underscores my point that in-laws are always on the outside. They are never given any say on what goes on in the family (e.g., Miguel and the house plans). They are never considered to be fully part of the family.
I also didn’t think Toby was making fun of the tradition. He seemed excited about wearing the hat and genuinely hurt that he was asked to take it off. Also, no one in the family corrected Kevin that the tradition is for whoever it is to wear the hat. Kevin could get raging drunk and no one asked him to take off the hat. Someone should have stepped in and corrected him. Or, maybe, just maybe, Kate should show some fricking support for her husband in front of her family.

good for Toby to GTFO of that family. Kate is awful

Yeah, disagree. If I had been Kevin and he called me a "41 yr.old man-child" I woulda kicked his arse out of the house. It was w/in his, or any of the Pearson's rights, to do so. Toby was a guest there and he disrespected Kevin. See ya!
Toby really showed his arse.
Toby really showed his arse.

But isn’t she at the cabin in the future. Apparently he remains close to the family. I am definitely a divorce as a last resort kind of guy but damn Kate would be difficult to be married to.

That we've seen, so far.
Again, they let us believe for an entire season that Randall & Beth were separated/divorced because they didn't show Beth at the Cabin for the big Rebecca flash forward, only to show that she was working late at the swanky dance studio she joined (which was implied at the time she built up from her own), only to arrive at the cabin later the next season as more was revealed.
I think that was when we saw that Deja was not only a doctor, but pregnant, too.

Maybe realistic. Kevin's in kind of a dark mood anyway and is being pretty grumpy with everyone. I don't blame Kevin for telling him to take it off. Toby didn't deserve to wear the hat if can't honor the spirit of Thanksgiving with the Pearsons. I mean really...Thanksgiving is the holiday of the food coma. No one diets on Thanksgiving. Give Baby Jack the damn marshmallows!

We have no clue about that. They only show us future scenes they want us to see. Initially, it's believed they wanted Kate to lose weight and be seen in the future as her new and improved self. But now she hasn't because NBC was getting cancelled for asking her to do so in her contract. I believe Kate probably would have had weight loss surgery if they hadn't changed that part.
I believe Kate and Miguel are not dead, but just not shown yet.
Kate and Toby are both awful at marriage. They are horrible communicators and never discuss what they want or feel. They just blame the other person. They're both very much at fault.

I agree with this. I used to always just blame Kate, but Toby's kinda turned into an arse.

They have definitely have changed his character. He was a good character before.

My bad, I meant to say he is at the cabin as in Toby. So I was thinking he remains close to the Pearson’s.

Yeah, you're not keeping Pearson grandkids far from that family.

Maybe because I feel for Toby, and loath Kate, but I don't think he's become an arse. I think he's had enough of the whole family's shite and is finally standing up for himself.
Hey, I love the show, warts and all. Randall is my man, and Kevin in the last few seasons as well.
10 episodes left.

Episode last night was pretty damn good.

Agreed. Kevin has more character depth than Kate and Randall combined.
Despite his outward success, he has been haunted by either being grossly underestimated or lost in the shadows to their parents catering to Kate's neurosis and ensuring Randall never felt out of place.
The worst part about the latter is that in last year's Woketastic BLM love fest, they made all of Jack's and Rebecca's efforts on that front for naught, based on Randall's list of racial grievances.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but this season, the supposed emotional moments just aren’t hitting as hard. Maybe because I don’t kids .
It was an ok episode to me. Kevin is by far the best of the 3 . Been that way for awhile
Onto to next week : i’m glad now we get to see why Lombard street in San Francisco is so zig zaggy next week.. Kate walks down it creating a rift in the earth haha

Same. I think I just got tired of the series. At this point, I somewhat dread so many more episodes. I think the series probably should have ended last season or only gone a half season this season. I keep wishing I could push fast forward through the rest of the episodes and just get to the end. 10 more episodes is a lot. I have a bad feeling the end of the series is going to be a letdown based on what we're seeing now.
Last night's episode was a bit better than previous episodes, but not by much for me.
Debbie Downer here, I guess.
