OG Mandy was very hot. I never saw Mandy 2.0

Tim was more of a carefree goober in HI which makes it a little funnier imo
as much as i love the women in LMS,
LMS obvious laugh track doesn't help either.

Neither show is good.

The weird thing about LMS (which I enjoy much more than Home Improvement) is that they made some odd substitutions that they never addressed:
-Ed's and Mike's offices switched locations at Outdoor Man after S2
-Changed actresses for Kristen after S1, The showrunner explanation was that they wanted an actress who looked younger to reflect having a kid in HS, but OG Kristen totally looked like she got knocked up at 16, whereas Kristen 2.0 looked like in no universe would she have been Mike & Vanessa's kid.
-Changed Ryan actors from Nick Jonas to convicted rapist Danny Masterson's brother
-Changed Carol Larabee actress in the back half of the Fox revival
-Most famously - Changed Mandys between ABC & Fox runs. Molly Ephraim (OG Mandy) indicated that she wasn't invited back
-Changed Boyd actors in Fox revival to being an early teen, then rarely had the new actor featured in subsequent episodes.
Seeing it laid out like this makes me wonder how much of this was for the political backlash TA was getting for not catering to the liberal crowd and sticking to his more conservative beliefs. I did not watch it live, so do not know which season it switched from ABC to Fox.

Hot-as-the-sun OG Mandy (Ephraim) = ABC S1-6
Too-Dumb-to-function Mandy 2.0 (McCook who's a foot taller than OG & blonde) = Fox S7-9

It's worth noting at the beginning of S7E1 where they made the jump to Fox, they had a running gag throughout where Kyle thought there was something different about his wife, but couldn't figure it out until the very end.

This would've made for a weird series finale:

Molly Ephraim didn't end up playing Mandy when "Last Man Standing" was revived, but that wasn't the last time that her involvement with the show was up in the air. In an interview with TV Line, showrunner Kevin Abbott revealed that the team considered asking Ephraim and original cast member Alexandra Krosney, who had departed after Season 1, to return for the series finale. "We kicked around some funny ideas, and if there was one that was funny enough to justify it, I would have given it a shot," Abbott said. "I would have called some people, but we never really had it."
According to Abbott, there was uncertainty regarding whether Ephraim and Krosney would actually be willing to return. The showrunner indicated that the Ephraim's split from the series in particular might not have been perfectly amicable. "One of those was not our decision... [and] I don't think attitudes have softened during the last four years," the creative said.
Though Ephraim never returned past Season 6, McCook ensured that Mandy continued to appear until Fox canceled "Last Man Standing" once again. The actress allowed the character a proper conclusion, even if some fans ultimately couldn't accept the change. "I think I sort of came to the conclusion that if, by now, they're not into my version of Mandy, then they never will be," McCook said in an interview with PopCulture. "And that's okay. Because actors are actors and they always will be."

You’re telling me that if you hadn’t watched Home Improvement as a kid, you would like it now and would think that it was a good show?

They also had her get lost upstairs in the house.

I said at the time they missed a great gag to have the two of them show up playing sisters who commiserate with Mike having the truck stolen because their dad once had a truck just like it.

Home Improvement was great. Last Man Standing was also great in a different kinda way. Both were funny and well written

This. I'll stop and watch Last Man Standing if I see it... if I see Home Improvement on, I'll see if something better is on.

Home Improvement was made a a different time and was more of a family show. I like both of them.
I was around when Home Improvement came out and lived it. Enjoyed the goofy comedy. No real deep dive into politics or harsh issues in general.
LMS is a great show and is probably my wife’s favorite sitcom.

She did another one about Cupid's Arrow. I'll have to see if I can find it.

I love Last Man Standing, but once the Asian exchange student joined the show, it really went down hill.
