Wow, this is crap. Hopefully, Taika's career will be over now but somehow, I doubt it.

This guy's trajectory is headed down at a steep angle. I know a bunch on here defended Our Flag Means Death but that was crap.

Looks like he's reached "smelling his own farts" territory. He needs to be reigned in.

He's had miss after miss since what? Jojo Rabbit?

There's not much of his that I have liked. Ragnarok is good, I guess, but I feel like anyone could have done as well or better.

Terry Gilliam reportedly stormed out of a meeting with them, saying this was crap, so there you go.

Amazing how they preach about inclusivity and then completely spit in its face with this shite.

I know right. Not one dwarf. Even Snow White had some Peter Dinklage rep.

What we Do in the Shadows
The Hunt for Wilderpeople
Thor: Ragnarok
Jojo Rabbit

was solid and yeah, he hasn't done anything of quality after that really.

Ragnarok was okay, but a terrible Thor movie. Started him down the path of being the fat, emotional, emasculated figure in later Marvel movies.

It was ok when I was a kid but the new one can’t get any worse

This looks stupid. Tonka Wakawaka is a freaking hack. Yeah I know many on here melt at the mention of his name, but he’s just not funny. The original is such a good movie, and this is taking a shite on that.

Whoever said he’s entered smelling his own farts territory has nailed it. He certainly has

Jojo Rabbit was smelling his own farts. He played a child's visualization of Hitler, and added his silly comedy to an incredibly dark moment in history. That's feeling yourself, and he was rewarded for it.

This looks like a bland kids show, and it looks like it's trying to be nothing more than a kids show, at least according to that trailer.

That was the outer edge of his creativity, and it worked b/c of the story of the boy protagonist (which was very dark). Kids are going to absorb dark times differently than parents.

I'm not saying JoJo Rabbit is the best movie ever or anything, but the absurdity TW brings worked. The problem is after JoJo, he seemed to take that absurdity to levels that completely eroded the quality of the work otherwise.

TW doesn't realize that silly is not absurd, and a silly movie/premise with bits of absurdity is OK. Complete absurdity with bits of silliness requires skill/creativity he lacks. He thought he was some auteur when he got a bit outside of his comfort zone and then went off the rails (hence the "smelling his own farts" and "needs to be reigned in" comments).

Once he started to believe his own press, his career tanked.

The difference between Thor: Ragnarök (where he directed and had some input) vs Love and Thunder (Where he had complete creative control).

Just another in a long line of directors/producers/others who, once they became successful, immediately believed they were 100% responsible for their success and nothing to do with the people around them.

Why does Disney hate little people?

Hard enough for them to find work and Disney decides to do a remake of a classic and not give any little people jobs.

I had no idea that they remade the original - and now I am pissed off. I normally do not mind many redo's - provided they don't make it shite (which 99% of the time they can't).

the original Time Bandits was a fav movie of mine as a kid. I will not watch this one. Taika has no idea how to not make a movie that isn't over the top goofiness. it works for WWDitS, but at some point - you need to have a script and not adlib large portions of the show/movie.

Thor: Ragnarok is a top 3 Marvel movie IMO.

This guy has jumped the shark.

He's only done 2 movies since then.

He has done What We Do in the Shadows and The Mandalorian since Jojo and both are excellent.

Obviously this site didn't enjoy Next Goal Wins but at least it was based on something that actually happened and wasn't some made up shite.

The guy has his misses, but Jojo Rabbit wasn't one of them. Great film which brought something totally new to the table (which we all clamor for here in the M/TV Board).

If you're going to dog someone for making light of Nazi Germany, you'll have to start with Chaplin, Mel Brooks, The Three Stooges, the creators of Hogan's Heroes, and on and on.
