I have to correct myself a bit. They are proto-Lovecraft, which are major influences (and I think he continued the Carcosa story). Those stories are 100% supernatural horror, they just hadn't been refined into cosmic horror.
There were some things put directly on screen, too.
Also, all the metaphysical stuff Rust rambled on about was borderline supernatural on its own, and certainly took its place in the "later" storyline.

It was an absolutely brilliant build up and had multiple people going down those rabbit holes in real time and added an eeriness/realness. It’s hard to explain but it did such a great job of having people actually considering a supernatural element may have some actual validity to it and tied to real life.

Daddario obviously gets the press clippings but lili simmons held her own
If I had to choose, I'm choosing Lili.
She was so fine in Banshee it was painful.
Daddario has a bigger set and those eyes...but IMO has less sex appeal by compairson.

Most of the 'supernatural' we saw was a result of Rust's PTSD.
I think we will see something similar in the current season with all the hallucinations happening. Perhaps being a result of the research facility or mine. They did mention that the water had already gone "bad" a day into permanent darkness. It affecting so many people makes me think this.

I can't get Lone Star in SE Louisiana, how the frick are they getting it above the Arctic Circle. Must be the supernatural element.

Then doesn’t look like you have any need to be in this thread anymore
Wait? What? Who made you the board fricking police? You didn't create this thread did you?
Anyone who wants to get in this thread and discuss what's on their mind about the show can do that, no?

If you're not watching the show then there's not really a good reason to be in the season long thread where people are discussing the content of the show.
If I decide to bail on a show because I don't like it, I don't drag my arse in its show thread for pages making everyone else miserable who is still watching the show and want to discuss beyond what I've watched (and didn't like).
Does he have to go? No. I'm not an admin. But I appreciate him deciding to step away since he doesn't plan to keep watching out of respect of those who still are.

no, simply having supernatural aspects is NOT what made S1 as popular as it is/was.
He knows that.

Ok
The show isn't great. The biggest thing is lack of chemistry. ZERO between any of the cast.
It's clear the director's purpose & what's really important to her & it's not making a great show.

I’m speaking mostly to the ones who will do nothing but rage against it for pages and not allow for general discussion of the show (which is starting to happen more often here).
Thought the CGI was shite? Cool (I think we most do). Thought the dialogue wasn’t great? Ok, that’s pretty reasonable.
Angry that the two leads are women and one is Black/Native and not attractive to you? Ok, well that’s not going to change so probably not worth bitching for the next however many episodes about it.
Why do you have such a hard on to white knight for this show?
People are giving their criticisms, which are legitimate, and you keep pushing this narrative that they just want to complain because they like complaining. Just read past that stuff and respond to the shite that interests you instead of responding to every post about shite you don’t like to hear and perceive as not worthy of conversation

White knighting? No. But I enjoyed the first episode enough to keep watching and would like to discuss valid criticisms instead of half of the bullshite in this thread that is the same posters who knew going in that they'd hate this show.

There are absolutely posters in this thread that show up in damn near every show thread just to bitch. And to run it off the rails. It's become a major issue on this board the last couple of years.
Why is it so hard for someone, if they openly HATE a show even 1 episode in, to move on?

No. What "runs it off the rails" is you trying to police it. Let people be, let them bitch.

Again, just read past the stuff that doesn’t interest you and stop trying to be the thread monitor, it’s not hard to do. It’s a message board for discussion and you’re bitching about the discussion. Stop adding to the “bullshite” by continuing to respond to it

I liked the first episode
Has a lot of promise and it helped im a huge fan of John Carpenters The Thing
The fact that all of those guys just disappeared out of thin air is eerie and fascinating. I think both cops having opposing ideals and personal issues is going to make this really compelling and I dont see it as Woke.. just an issue that both cops have to overcome to do the job

Hawked was quietly intimidating in Winter’s Bone.

--Dialogue is also very bad...Like when Foster's character just ignores the "stepdaughter" saying she didn't have to raise her and just says I'm going take a shower. No way an adult with enough of a conscience to take her in would also be that horrible
You would be surprised how real I actually found that shite
People can really suck especially when it comes to vulnerability.
Dialogue could be a little better but nothing will ever be season 1... "He (Cole) would pick a fight with the sky because he didnt like its shade of blue"

I enjoyed ep 1, but as of this moment I don't believe it's going to be better than s3, much less s1.
I do find that broad begging for 5* reviews absolutely delicious.
