The biggest ruined one for me is Spartacus.
If you don’t know the details the main actor playing Spartacus (Andy Whitfield), died so they had to replace him. There was nothing they could do , but for me, it totally ruined what was an incredible show. Very sad situation all around

Nominee for best: Jerry’s dad Morty in Seinfeld. Originally played by Phil Burns, Barney Martin took over in season 2 and made Morty iconic

It didn’t ruin it like the last season but the second Daario Naharis in GOT was pathetic

The Ted McGinley Award

Obviously, setting McGinley aside, most of my issues are with an addition, not a replacement, and usually that is a kid. Cousin Oliver (Brady Bunch) FTMFW, although it could be argued he was replacing both Bobby/Cindy as they had gotten older and lost cuteness.

As far as "saved", for a main cast, I'm going to go with Peter Scolari coming in as Michael Harris in Season 3 of Newhart replacing Steven Kampmann's Kirk Devane. Not that Kampmann didn't nail the role, the role was just wrong as a foil for Bob Newhart's Dick Loudon. Scolari's Michael Harris as a partner for Julia Duffy's Stephanie was a better fit for the show.

I just can't see it going 8 seasons with Kampmann's Kirk character.

I thought Liam McIntyre did a fine job under bad circumstances in the Spartacus series. The glaring downgrade was the replacement actress who played Naevia. From Lesley Ann Brandt

to Cynthia Addai-Robinson

I had completely forgotten about the Devane character.

Peter Scolari was perfect.

Anne, I mean egg, I mean her????? on Arrested development. Mae Whitman replacing Alessandra Torresani led to one of my favorite side characters ever.

The one that comes to mind immediately for me is "Bewitched" when they swapped out the role of Samantha's husband, Darren after 6 seasons when Dick York pulled out due to physical injuries and his addiction to prescribed pain killers replaced him with Dick Sargent.

I can recall other shows having pivotal cast members leave, but they were replaced by new characters. Shelly Long left "Cheers" and was replaced by Kirstie Alley--------Suzanne Sommers of "Three's Company" replaced by Priscilla Barnes------------are 2 that come to mind.

I think Silicon Valley would have been better if Christopher Evan Welch hadn't died.

Last Man Standing was ruined when the hot fun chick was replaced with some vanilla broad.

Jerry Stiller was also not the original Frank Costanza, John Randolph was. They later reshot the scenes with Randolph for syndication.

Two and a Half Men was ruined when Charlie left.

Aunt Vivian on Fresh Prince

A lot of people will say x-files with Robert Patrick, but i still liked it. Gillian’s plastic surgery killed the reboot.

Lots of shows were ruined by swaps, but they were poorly done. Last Man Standing, Roseanne, etc

Also on that show, Coach (Nicholas Colasanto) who died in real life was replaced by Woody Harrelson. Didn't miss a beat.

Came here to post this.

OG Mandy was amazing and the 2nd best character on the show, behind Mike Baxter himself, obviously.

Replacement Mandy was a vapid retard who was too dumb to come out of the rain.

Replacement Kristen was pretty bad, too.

Not exactly an actor swap, but getting rid of Brendanawicz from s1 of P&R and bringing in Ben and Chris later to kind of fill that void
