Almost all of the "recent" ones listed barely anyone saw
It doesn't help that going to the movies has gotten so expensive. It's REALLY hard to justify taking a family to go see a movie. Imagine taking a family of 5 to go see Inside Out, for example. Short of discounts that's, what, $100 just for tickets?
So we wait for REALLY big productions to go, which can very hit or miss. Comedies have to wait until they hit streaming services - but then run the risk of just getting buried under tons of existing content.
You kind of need a Deadpool-esque comedy, one that doubles as a huge action blockbuster, to drive people to a theater to see it.

With each passing day there are fewer "movie stars". 30 years ago you would go see a Chevy Chase movie, or Adam Sandler, because you figured you would be entertained and they had a pretty good track record. There are other examples over the years. Right now, I'm not sure comedy wise who I would go out of my way to see.

One theory is comedy doesn’t play well internationally, so the studios have backed off making them.

Bottoms?
I heard good things. But I had the same problem with it as I did with Booksmart - the characters were too fricking annoying and arch and not like teenagers.

A family of 5 can see a Saturday or Sunday matinee of that for under $50 in like 90% of theaters in this country.

Not that I don’t agree that movie tickets are more expensive than they need to be, but it’s hard to find anything that’ll entertain a family of 5 for a few hours on less than 100 bucks these days
Also my local AMC, which is in a high COL city, 5 full priced adult tickets is 65 bucks, which would be closer to 50 bucks if you have kid tickets involved there. So your numbers aren’t really accurate there. It’s not really as wildly expensive of an activity that you’re making it although it certainly could be if you also have to see it in imax and have to get snacks

When it comes to stuff for the family; the wife and I will do stuff like this: LINK
Typically you can always find theaters doing summer events like this. Not all the movies are bangers, but the little ones really enjoy it.

In the last decade:
The Nice Guys 2016
The Lego Movie 2014
What We Do In the Shadows 2014
The Grand Budapest Hotel 2014
Hunt for the Wilderpeople 2016
Dolemite Is My Name 2019
The Death of Stalin 2017
Nothing since 2020.

This is a really good point, and a sad one. And I feel the comedies that are made, are extremely 'cookie cutter' and nothing very original.
