They could have just used a 2x4 with a mean face painted on it. The quality of acting would have been the same and it would have been much cheaper.

I thought it was because she got sick or something?

Could go either way. That is what was said, but it is believed that it was for ES

quote:

Sofia Coppola, the director's daughter, was given the role of Michael Corleone's daughter when Winona Ryder dropped out of the film at the last minute (supposedly due to illness, though other reports state that she was committed to Edward Scissorhands).

Something i didnt know was this

Julia Roberts was originally cast as Mary, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Madonna wanted to play the role, but Coppola felt she was too old for the part. Rebecca Schaeffer was set to audition for the role the day she was murdered.

Actually, I thought Cruise did a good job. I initially hated the idea.

Now the whole cast of Queen of the Damned sucked. As did all the changes to the book.

Kirsten Dunst as the supposedly hottest girl in the comic universe-Mary Jane. She is just weird looking. It was distracting every time they referred to her as "beautiful."

It sounds like the casting of Seth Rogan as the Green Hornet was a huge mistake. Sony isn't happy with the finished film.

but it would've been a lot better if he did some acting prior to that

Nic Cage - Ghostrider.

It was a piss poor attempt at a great comic book anyway, but this was terrible casting.

Rosie O'Donell and Dan Aykroyd in Exit to Eden.

Movie was supposed to be a sexual thriller but Madonna backed out and is somehow replaced with Rosie.

WTF!!

That is pretty close to a /thread

I think the most famous example of bad casting is John Wayne as Genghis Khan in "The Conqueror"...

Also, Jack Black in "King Kong"

and Vince Vaughn in "Psycho"

In all fairness to Vince, whom I like as an actor, that movie should never had happened in the first place, so I can't really blame him, but what an awful choice.
