The only way kids could be exposed to this specific sentence in the theater, where it will obviously instantly turn them trans, is if they found a way to freeze frame the film in the theater and zoom in enough to make that incredibly faint image legible. Luckily, most kids aren't psychotic.

Animation isn't cheap. Each frame is specifically drawn up and scrutinized by the artist / studio.
Furthermore, each shot in a trailer is painstakingly chosen to get exactly the right scenes to fit the 1-2 minutes of runtime.
This wasn't just some passing shot with a background image of a poster. It was intentionally put in the movie then intentionally put in the trailer to cause this very reaction.
The movie was already going to be popular. They JUST needed to rub it in the fan's faces just enough to make their point.

I can’t even say I’ll do that much. I no longer have much interest in the superhero genre and this was just one more log on the pyre for me to lack interest in this movie.

Disney bombed John Carter as well, and it had nothing to do with grooming kids.
I don't know much about strange world, but I have no clue who thought a toy story movie without woody/tom Hanks and Tim allen was a good idea.
