You have to respect the commitment to this little impromptu piece of performance art.

People think Will Smith is unhinged and Chris Rock is a pansy yet two days later neither one is dropping any hint that this was an act.

It is amazing. You are legitimately retarded on every board you post on. Incredible.

Where was security?

Well out of sight I'd assume and never even flinched when Will Smith walked onto the stage. Why would they have?

This is another one I don't follow. The Oscars were in a no win situation when this happened. Think it through like this...assuming it's 100% legit:

Will Smith stands up and walks on stage. Chris Rock has no idea what's going on and neither do the directors or the audience...but it's Will Smith and he's not walking up there screaming yet. Chris Rock said "Uh oh" but he's looking right at Smith and smiling that Chris Rock smile. Smith gave no indication he was going to hit him, which is why Rock still had his hands behind his back and was leaning in like he was waiting for smith o tell him something. Smith then sucker slaps him and everyone but Smith is stunned. Rock is clearly shaken and says that Smith just slapped the shite out of him on stage which gets the now famous response from Swith, "Keep my wife's name out your fricking mouth!"

So...what does the show do in this case? What would it have looked like if security had rushed in and tackled Will Smith at The Oscars after assaulting Rock on stage? What if they waited to walk him out during the first commercial break? What are the chances that he and Jada walk out quietly, and that the whole thing doesn't devolve into a bigger shitshow with other busy body celebrities getting involved with security guards? And say you mange to get him out and things settle down, wtf do you do 30 minutes later when his award comes up and you have to show a still image for him and then have to have someone else accept the award on his behalf?

In a perfect world, it should have ben addressed immediately, but what part about what I wrote is not how it would have likely played out? And imagine the outrage that would be pouring down on The Oscars now had they done that?

Richard Williams came out condemning Smith and his actions. the guy he won his oscar portraying, who he worked with and admires.

Pretty much everyone is coming at him and he had to issue a long apology.

If it was staged, do any of these tards think he might let everyone know at this point? Its just absurd

Gun to my head, I think this is a direct result of so many high profile hoaxes taking place over the past few years. No one wants to be on record as having believe the next Jussie story. And this story is just surreal. A-list superstar actor on the night he's up for an Oscar walks up and bitch slaps a Top Ten all time standup on live TV? I heard about the story the following day, and my immediate reaction was "that's got to be bullshite." then I watched the unedited video and it was pretty clear that Smith actually hit him for real.

What sold it for me was watching him scream at Rock. Will Smith is sitting there in the middle of Hollywood Royalty on his biggest night, and like Kevin Costner in For the Love of the Game he "cleared the mechanism" and focused entirely on Chris Rock to scream at him. He lost total control the way someone does in a road rage incident. Completely forgot where he was and who he was with. I honestly think had Chris Rock gone back at him with another line like what his instinct was likely screaming at him to do, Will Smith would have taken off at him on stage and at that point I'm thinking it's bedlam.

So...they're good enough actors to pull this hoax off, but not good enough to know not to grin as they do it?

It's just as likely Rock is smiling because he's stunned he just got hit by Will Smith at The Oscars and Smith was likely smiling at him on the way up there, which is why Rock was smiling at him the whole time. His smile faded as he turned away and walked back to his seat.

Like I said yesterday, I kind of admire taking this position because nothing short of yanking his Oscar (something that would never happen ever) will ever validate this for those of you guys who have declared it fake.

To all of the people who think it was staged, just stop a second and ask yourself, "what benefit did Rock, Smith, or the Oscars have to stage this"? It is a terrible look for everybody. Will Smith is the butt of every joke right now. This doesn't help his career one bit and he looks like a cuck in front of the world.

Always, always follow the money.

quote:

Rock is set to perform standup at Boston's Wilbur Theater on Wednesday. On March 18, the cheapest tickets were sold for $46, but had increased to $411 by Monday, according to TickPick's public relations representative Kyle Zorn.

quote:

The site reports that 51% of its sales for Chris Rock's tour, which went on sale on February 24, have come since the Oscars, a representative for TickPick told CBS News via email. In the last week, 88% of Rock's ticket sales on the site came through after the Oscars.

And tickets for his Friday show at the same theater now start at $503. That show is sold out on TicketMaster.

Rock's show just sold half a million worth of tickets vs $50,000 worth of tickets.

quote:

The venue seats 1,093

$46 x 1093 = $50,000
$460 x 1093 = $500,000

Uh

The price increase is on the secondary market.

Which he doesn't see a dime of.
