Seeing people act like they don't see interracial couples always makes me think Louisiana has too many people going to private schools. Way too many of those types being elected to important offices in the state too. Making decisions for the rest of us like they're impartial.

I don't even notice when it's a mixed race couple or one of the main characters is Latin or Asian. It doesn't change the movie at all. But I live and work in Houston and probably have people from 20 different countries working at my hospital.
I don't get why this matters at all.

Don't recall if there was a lawsuit, but there was definitely a push to have more inclusion when putting together a TV/Movie.
Also, not sure if you have been paying attention; but Hollywood is full of leftist, and this is an important thing for them. So, it really should not be a surprise as they want to normalize (good, bad, or indifferent) relationships that many may feel as taboo to help people that fit these categorize fell like they belong.
With all that said, no idea why interracial couples is an issue, unless you live in a very homogeneous area <---directed to OP
